Pantry Coordinator

The Harry & Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center (JCC) seeks a Pantry Coordinator for our Jewish Community Pantry, located at 2900 W Center Street. The Jewish Community Pantry addresses hunger in Milwaukee by providing emergency food, community resource connections, and a kosher section. We serve families in zip codes 53210 and 53216, and those with urgent food needs.
Position Summary
The Pantry Coordinator supports the efficient operation and growth of the Jewish Community Pantry. This role focuses on community outreach and assisting with pantry programs and events. The coordinator will engage with corporate volunteers, build community partnerships, and support the Pantry Manager and Director in daily operations. This is a grant-funded position with a term of one year, and the possibility of renewal based on continued grant funding.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Community Outreach: Build relationships with local organizations, schools, and community members to promote pantry services and increase participation.
- Event Support: Assist in the planning and execution of community events, including health fairs, holiday celebrations, and other programs.
- Program Support: Assist in executing grant funded programs for seniors, children, and individuals with medical needs.
- Communication: Maintain clear and effective communication with volunteers, guests, and community partners.
- Adhere to the JCC’s Positive Rules of Communication.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements (KSAs)
- Experience in volunteer coordination, community outreach, related fields, or transferable job experience demonstrating relevant skills.
- Demonstrated skills in effective communication, relationship-building, and the ability to effectively engage diverse populations.
- Demonstrated strong organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to operate cargo vans and provide a valid driver’s license.
- Demonstrated proficiency with computer software: including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Demonstrated effective written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills; customer-service orientation with specific strength in diplomacy and discretion strongly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively, both independently and as part of a team, with other staff members, volunteers, and community members.
Education and/or Experience
- 1 to 2 years of community outreach experience preferred
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; talk or hear; and use hands to handle, or touch objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must lift up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Some limited exposure to injury; medium exposure to fumes, vapors, grease, oil, dust, etc. Must follow all safety requirements carefully.
Work Environment
Work is performed in the pantry and office setting, with occasional outdoor activities.
- Ability to make repetitive motions such as lifting and bending.
- Ability to work flexibly hours, including weekends and some holidays.
