Memory Center Activity Leader (part-time)
The JCC Metrowest Littman Memory Center in West Orange, New Jersey has been in existence for 8 years. It has been very successful in providing quality programming for those with mild to moderate memory impairment and allowing respite for their caregivers. JCC MetroWest is seeking a part-time Memory Center Activity Leader who will report to the Memory Center Director and be a primary member of the activity team.
Responsibilities / Essential Functions of the Job:
- Work with the program Director on the overall vision and planning of the program.
- Create and lead group and individual activities to stimulate socialization and communication.
- Provide one-on-one interaction if needed based on the interests and ability of the participant.
- Engage with new participants to determine interests.
- Form relationships with family and caregivers to better understand the participant.
- Assist in setting up, serving, and cleaning up meals. Assist with morning set-up (snacks, morning and afternoon activity supplies).
- Provide supervision of participants to ensure their safety.
- Report all incidents/accidents and changes in participant’s behavior to the program Director and Chief Program Officer.
- Perform other related duties and activities as assigned
Qualifications:
- Experience and ability to plan and lead activities for adults with moderate memory impairment.
- Degree in Therapeutic Recreation or related field preferred.
- Knowledge of technology, including Microsoft Word and Outlook.
Additional Information:
This is a 21 hour per week position. The schedule is Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30am to 3:00pm and Wednesdays from 10:00am to 2:30pm (Wednesday hours have some flexibility).
Compensation: $25,000/year – $28,000/year.
