Job Summary: Work with Lead Counselor and Unit Director in the implementation of age-appropriate activities, and provide a safe, nurturing and fun environment for campers.

Reports to: Director

Essential Functions:

· Follow camp policies and procedures

· Participate in staff training sessions and orientation prior to the start of camp season

· Attend weekly staff meetings

· Keep Lead Counselor and Director informed of any camper issues

· Implement routines, schedules and procedures for the operation of the group

· Maintain positive working relationship with all camp staff

· Implement programs with staff, following the objectives and outline of the camp

· Utilize creativity to implement group time activities

· Assist with instructional swim and recreational swim as directed

· Know each camper in your group

· Know all camp staff

· Share in responsibility for the safety and well-being of the campers in the group

· Never leave campers unattended

· Share in the implementation of activities

· Participate in group and specialist activities

· When/where applicable, help facilitate Jewish learning in camp programs

· Share responsibility for the care of equipment and cleanliness of camp facilities with other staff

· Compose group newsletter or article informing parents of Unit, group and camp activities

· Attend and assist in the implementation of any late-night or overnight programs

· Assist in arrival and dismissal of campers

· Exhibit a high level of energy and enthusiasm

· Exhibit a positive and flexible attitude and demeanor

· Remain flexible and available to carry forth with all camp related activities

· Assist in the staff evaluation process

· Assist in the evaluation of the camp program and activities at the conclusion of camp

· Perform other duties as needed

Physical Requirements:

· Lift/move children up to 40 lbs.

· Demonstrate physical stamina and agility required to be mobile for long periods throughout the day.

· Stand for long periods of time and be able to run and actively engage physically with children.

· React with physical and mental alertness in emergency situations.

· Use hands for grasping equipment and play material.

· Supervise children by sight and sound.

· Must be able to rotate head side to side to scan the environment.

· Ability to demonstrate, motivate and communicate with children and adults.

· Ability to speak clearly and articulately with a loud tone of voice.

· Mental alertness; sustain concentration for long periods of time.

  • Mental abilities: Attention to detail; manage multiple projects, prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • React with physical and mental alertness in emergency situations and assist in evacuation of building.

Qualifications:

· Minimum 18 years of age

· Previous camp experience a plus

· Enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience and love of fun

· Desire and ability to work and play with children

· Ability to take guidance and supervision; team player

Days/Hours:

Training week: June 16 - 19, 2026

Camp Dates: June 22 - August 7th, 2026

No camp July 3, 2026

Monday-Friday 9:00AM-3:45PM

Stipend Range:

$3,400 - $3,800 depending on experience
