Principal Responsibilities:
- Work with the Managing Director of Jewish Life to create opportunities to engage local community individuals, representing the diverse population of the region the Y serves. Develop activities and programs for participants ages middle school through young adulthood, including those related to existing programs like Be Me and activities funded by SONYC.
- Plan and facilitate meetings, including guest speakers and special events, for Youthbridge Upper Manhattan. Recruit participants from the neighborhood, partner organizations, and the Y's SONYC programs.
- Plan and facilitate special events and ongoing activities that bring together young adults from across Northern Manhattan to increase their engagement with the Y, including quarterly "Open Mic" events for young adults.
- Develop relationships with schools, Jewish organizations, and community organizations to interface with teens and young adults.
- Communicate with families of middle and high-school-age children regularly about program highlights and any concerns that need to be addressed.
- Create and distribute marketing materials.
- Part-time position.
- Approximately 10 to 15 hours per week during the year.
- Some evening and Sunday work hours may be required.
COMPENSATION:
$30 per hour worked
Minimum Qualifications:
- Proven planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluation skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to communicate in a variety of settings and styles clearly and appropriately.
- Able to present in front of large groups of participants.
- Proficient in using Google Suite, MS Office applications, social media, and other technology platforms for youth programs.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Spanish language-speaking preferred.
- Experience facilitating inter-cultural dialogue.
- Experience in program design, primarily those that support individuals from middle school through young adulthood age.
- Documentation of U.S. citizenship or eligibility to work in the U.S.
- Must pass the background check, medical tests, fingerprinting through the Department of Health and Department of Education, and other pre-employment requirements.
Salary:
$25,000 - $35,000
