Principal Responsibilities:
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) supports the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) on all financial and business matters. The CFO provides leadership and direction on matters related to financial planning and controls, as well as administrative operations support, ensuring sound fiscal management and efficient support services to Tampa Jewish Community Centers & Federation programs and community services. The CFO is responsible for overseeing and directing the management of all assets, including property and risk management, financial and tax reporting, budgeting, external audit processes, and information technology services.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to):
- Lead and manage the affairs of the Finance & Accounting Department to include budgeting, strategic planning, staff management, and leadership.
- Implement policies and procedures to ensure proper internal controls are maintained to facilitate the efficiency of department operations, safeguard assets and reduce risk.
- Act as staff liaison to the Finance and Audit Committees.
- Direct Information Systems function and oversee assessment and implementation of integrated technology platforms.
- Collaborate with Donors and their Professional Advisors on challenging gifts.
- Prepare and compile all financial information for the annual audit and provide full compliance with requests from external auditors.
- Review payroll submission and payroll report to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and journal entries.
- Collaborate and partner with external HR consultant, Payroll specialist, and Benefit Broker on the successful management of HR related documents; payroll information; and benefit information.
- Provide consultative guidance to the Leadership Team in all areas impacting the Financial Department.
- Follow all organization's policies, practices, and procedures.
- Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
- Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
- Fiscal Management
- Overseas and directs treasury, cash management, budgeting, audit, tax, accounting, purchasing, real estate management, long range forecasting.
- Directs and supervises the Assistant Controller who oversees the day-to-day financial reporting functions of the finance/accounting staff.
- Budget Oversight
- Directs the preparation of interim and annual reports for all Tampa Jewish Community Centers & Federation departments and related agencies.
- Oversees the annual audit process with the Audit Committee.
- Responds to audit management letter and assures timely reporting on the annual audit to the Board.
- Maintains relationship with auditors.
- When required, prepares Request for Proposal for audit services.
- Oversees and directs the preparation and issuance of Tampa Jewish Community Centers & Federation annual audited financial statements. Insure the highest levels of fiscal management, governance, and transparency.
- Fiscal Compliance
- Ensures that accounting transactions, including payments on donor pledges and program receipts, and reports are processed and produced in compliance with Tampa Jewish Community Centers & Federation policies and generally accepted accounting principles.
- Monitors actual Tampa Jewish Community Centers & Federation fiscal performance versus operating budget for current period, investigating and explaining variances to management and the Finance Committee and Board.
- Prepares or reviews reports of results to various audiences.
- Risk Management
- Oversee the risk management, benefit administration ( along with HR), and insurance activities for all Tampa Jewish Community Centers & Federation departments.
- Monitors accounts receivable of the program departments.
- Works with banks and grantees on loan guarantees and serves as a resource to solve problems that arise.
- Administration
- Supervises information technology function, specifically in the areas of strategic planning and technology development.
- Manages Facilities Department to ensure budget adherence, security compliance, and overall beautification and standard keeping of the physical locations.
- Oversees Retirement Plan Administration in consultation with external consultants.
- Supervises and oversees the administration of the health insurance, LTD and life insurance plans. Serves as principal contact with legal counsel.
- Leadership
- Provides fiscal leadership, including coaching, training, and budgeting assistance to departments beyond the finance team as well as Agency partners.
- Builds, manages, and mentors a team with effective and transparent dynamics by overseeing all training, work allocations, problem resolutions, and performance evaluations of its members.
- Maintains and develops key relationships with partner agencies, banks, auditors, and others.
- Supervisory Responsibilities
- Directly supervises members of the Finance & Accounting Department.
- Performs supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
- Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees, planning, and assigning and directing work; appraising performance of employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Minimum Qualifications:
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Bachelor's degree in business, Accounting, Finance, or equivalent required.
- Master's degree preferred.
- CPA required.
- Non-profit experience a plus.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of relevant work experience in increasingly responsible positions.
- Extensive financial management experience in complex multi-million-dollar organization.

Salary:
$135,000 - $150,000
