Principal Responsibilities:
Program Development & Coordination
- Develop and coordinate youth programming, including after-school care and vacation/drop-in day programs
- Plan and deliver enrichment classes for preschool and school-age children
- Provide classroom support as needed (coverage, transitions, materials preparation, and child engagement)
- Ensure compliance with OCFS regulations and site policies
- Maintain accurate documentation (rosters, attendance, permission forms)
- Manage program materials and supplies within the designated budget
Staff Support & Supervision
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and training of youth program staff and specialty instructors
- Supervise after-school staff and ensure active engagement with children
- Maintain staff files, clearances, and certifications in accordance with OCFS standards
- Oversee scheduling and staffing transitions as needed
- Support and grow specialty programs such as Lil Tumblers and Lil Hoopsters
Collaboration & Community Engagement
- Serve as liaison with the Binghamton and Vestal School Districts
- Act as a resource to families, children, and staff through clear and positive communication
- Collaborate with other members of the Early Childhood and Youth leadership team to
- Support JCC-wide programs, holiday events, and school breaks
- Foster an inclusive environment aligned with JCC and Early Childhood Center values
- Transition to an open role in either early childhood or camp departments for the summer to support year-round position
- Complete additional duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in education, child development, or a related field and at least two years of experience working with children under age 13, including one year in a supervisory role
- Experience in a licensed childcare or youth program (OCFS familiarity preferred)
- Strong organizational skills; creative, energetic, and flexible approach
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- CPR/First Aid/AED certification (or willingness to obtain)
Salary:
$35,000 - $45,000

Since its inception in 1927, the Jewish Community Center (JCC) of Binghamton, NY has grown to become an essential part of the Broome County community. As a full-service, non-profit organization, the JCC provides educational, cultural, recreational, and physical fitness programs to enhance the quality of life for all ages, from infants to senior citizens. As a non-sectarian United Way partner, the Center welcomes participants regardless of age, race, religion, sexual orientation, nationality, or ability to pay.
The JCC's facility houses a natatorium with a 2250 sq. ft. pool, gymnasium, small fitness center, men's and women's health clubs, steam, sauna, a fitness loft with spin bikes and Pilates reformers, stage, auditorium, and more. Over 200 children are served daily at our award-winning Early Childhood Center. Our year-round educational childcare includes UPK, after-school program, summer camp, and youth sports offerings.
The 8-acre land also features outdoor tennis/pickleball and basketball courts, pavilion, nature preserve, soccer field, and three age-appropriate playground facilities.
