Principal Responsibilities:

The Camp Waterfront Supervisor is responsible for maintaining a safe boating environment for all campers and staff by enforcing waterfront rules, facility rules and following the J Camp schedule closely. The Camp Waterfront Supervisor also creates and implements boating activities for campers.


Pay Range: $21.50 - $22.75 per hour, depending on experience.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Caution participants regarding safe vs. unsafe behaviors. Enforce safety protocol and report concerns to the Camp Director or Aquatics Director.
  • Rescue participants in danger of drowning; administer first-aid/CPR if required.
  • Create and implement boating activities. Adapt activities based on the ages and abilities of campers.
  • Inspect facilities for cleanliness and perform regular waterfront maintenance as assigned by the Camp Director and Aquatics Director.
  • Work with team members to organize, order, store and inventory program supplies and equipment.
  • Ensure the safety, health and welfare of campers and staff by providing a safe camp environment and immediately and appropriately responding to any incidents, illnesses or situations that arise.
  • Support the emotional and social wellbeing of the campers through positive behavior management, supportive interactions, and conflict resolution.
  • Communicate regularly and appropriately with the rest of the J Camp staff team and Aquatics Director, both verbally and in writing.
  • Immediately inform the Camp Director of any concerns that arise with campers, staff, parents/guardians or community members.
  • Share recommendations with Camp Director and Aquatics Director on an ongoing basis.
  • Act as a positive ambassador of the SJCC both inside and outside of the SJCC
  • Follow all emergency procedures at the SJCC.
  • Perform work on weekends and evenings as needed to meet applicable deadlines or scheduling needs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.


Education/Experience: Experience and/or training working with children preferred. Attendance at J Camp staff training is required unless approval to train separately is granted in writing by the Camp Director. A current Waterfront Lifeguard Certification through an approved certifying body, or willingness to get certified.


Other Skills: Current CPR/AED and First Aid Certification for adults/infants/children, through an approved certifying body, or willingness to get certified.
