Principal Responsibilities:

Riverdale Y is a community and cultural center located in the Riverdale neighborhood of the Bronx. Job Title: Floater
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM (September - June)
Location: Riverdale Y

Position Summary:
The Floater provides afternoon program support by safely escorting and supervising children throughout the Riverdale Y facility. This role is essential in ensuring smooth transitions between classes and maintaining a safe, positive environment for children ages 2-14. This position reports to the Director of Youth & Family Services and will have direct interaction with the following directors: ECC, Performing Arts, Aquatics and Camp.

Minimum Qualifications:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Escort children ages 2-14 between classrooms, activity spaces, and programs throughout the facility
  • Ensure children arrive at classes and activities on time and are released to authorized staff or caregivers
  • Maintain active supervision and ensure the safety and well-being of all children during transitions
  • Communicate clearly and positively with children, staff, and program leaders
  • Assist staff with basic supervision needs as required
  • Follow all Riverdale Y policies and procedures related to child safety and conduct

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children in a school, camp, childcare, or recreational setting preferred
  • Ability to manage groups of children of varying ages
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Reliable, punctual, and responsible
  • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods
  • Background check clearance required including fingerprinting

Work Environment:
This position involves frequent movement throughout the facility and interaction with children in a fast-paced, active setting. Must be able to lift up to 35lbs and remain on your feet for extended periods throughout the day.

Compensation: $17/hr
