Principal Responsibilities:

Support our teaching team by working with children 2 to 5 years old. Candidates must genuinely enjoy being with young children and have an interest in getting to know them well. Candidates must be willing to support teachers in all aspects of classroom management.

  • Helping to maintain a child-centered classroom environment that is inviting, loving, creative and clean
  • Help in planning a daily routine that includes play, outdoor time, messy play, art, cooking, singing, reading stories, offering snack and a gathering circle
  • Speaking to children with respect
  • Exhibiting curiosity about children and being joyful in the classroom
  • Being emotionally present to support children in their relationships, if they are unwell, and exhibiting empathy
  • Creating a safe environment
  • Exhibiting good judgement
  • Supervising children at all times, including snack times, rest periods, diapering/restroom times, play times, and activity times.
  • Knowing all health and emergency policies of the program and being ready and willing to implement them if necessary.
  • Helping with general housekeeping tasks.
  • Maintaining appropriate communication with staff, children, and families at all times.
  • Performing miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
  • Interacting with parents at pick up time, signing children out for the day

Minimum Qualifications:

Hours: Monday to Friday 11:00AM-6:00PM.

Qualities and Qualifications:

  • BA Preferred or study plan eligible with the NYCDOH

Salary: $20 an hour
