Overview
Join our welcoming JCC community as an Assistant Teacher in our Shalom Children's Center! A key member of the teaching team, the Assistant Teacher partners with the Lead Teacher to create a nurturing and stimulating environment that supports the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development of each child. This role ensures high-quality, individualized care and maintains compliance with NC DCDEE guidelines while embodying the JCC's values of community, learning, and excellence.
What You'll Do
- Support developmentally appropriate, engaging classroom activities.
- Foster empathy, problem-solving, and community among children.
- Maintain a safe, organized classroom environment that promotes exploration in accordance with NC DCDEE guidelines.
- Collaborate with the Lead Teacher on lesson plans and documentation.
- Build positive, professional relationships with children, families, and staff.

Minimum Qualifications:
What We're Looking For
- NC Early Childhood Credential (NCECC), or working toward it.
- At least one year of experience in a preschool environment.
- Strong teamwork, flexibility, and communication skills.
- Ability to actively engage with children and ensure their safety.
- NC Qualifying Letter (before start date) and CPR/First Aid certification (within 90 days of hire).
- Basic computer proficiency (Outlook, Word, Zoom, communication apps).
