Principal Responsibilities:

The Director of Older Adult Engagement leads the strategic and day-to-day operations of services for older adults, including Holocaust survivors and those with dementia and early memory loss. This role oversees the development, implementation, and management of comprehensive programs and services, supervises staff, manages departmental budgets and grant compliance, and ensures delivery of high-quality care. The Director also represents the agency in community settings and with funding partners.

This role is a full time on site position with occasional evening and weekend hours


Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Development & Oversight:

    • Design and implement engaging senior center programs including meals, recreational activities, cultural and Jewish life programming, wellness initiatives, and educational offerings.
      Develop specialized services for individuals with dementia and early memory loss.
  • Administrative & Grant Management:

    • Ensure all programs align with agency and funder requirements.
      Oversee program grants: write reports, track deliverables, and maintain compliance.
    • Seek new grant opportunities and donors
      Collaborate with the CFO to develop and monitor the annual departmental budget.
      Maintain accurate and timely statistical and narrative reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Staff Supervision & Development:

    • Hire, train, and supervise program staff, including social workers, administrative, and supervisory personnel.
      Assign caseloads and other responsibilities; review case records for quality assurance.
      Facilitate regular supervision, staff development, and performance evaluations.
  • Client Services:

    • Provide direct case management services as needed, including assessments, benefits advocacy, referrals, and supportive counseling.
      Develop and manage systems for client monitoring and data tracking using a client database.
      Serve as a resource for families and community members seeking services or information.
  • Community & External Relations:

    • Act as liaison and develop relationships with community organizations, funders, and governmental agencies.
      Represent the agency at meetings, community events, and relevant networks.

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualifications & Competencies:

  • MSW or related graduate degree; LMSW preferred
    Minimum 5-7 years experience in social services, including work with older adults and program management
  • Strong knowledge of Jewish culture and practice
    Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills
    Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
    Proficiency with Microsoft Office and client database systems
    CPR, AED, and First Aid certified (or willingness to obtain/maintain certification)

Working Conditions:

Primarily office-based with regular computer and phone use
Home visits and offsite meetings required
Occasional evening or weekend hours may be necessary based on program needs

Salary:

$75,000 - $85,000
