About Keshet Hebrew Teacher:

Keshet is an engaging program that connects families and their young children ages 8-12 to Israel through interactive activities that celebrate Jewish identity, the Hebrew language, and Israeli culture.

מפגשי הקריאה והכתיבה מוצעים לילדי קשת ויהיו בנוסף למפגשי קשת הקבועים. במפגשים אלה, ילדי קשת ילמדו את אבני היסוד לאוריינות בעברית, כולל זיהוי אותיות, התאמת צליל-אות, והנחת הבסיס לקריאה וכתיבה בעברית.

Job Purpose:

The IAC Keshet Hebrew Teacher will lead reading and writing sessions for Keshet children, providing foundational literacy skills in Hebrew. This role involves fostering early language development by teaching letter recognition, sound-letter correspondence, and introducing the basics of reading and writing in Hebrew. The IAC Keshet Hebrew Teacher will create an engaging and supportive learning environment, helping children build essential skills that complement their regular Keshet sessions. This is a 6 hours-per-week position.

Duties include and are not limited to:

  • Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate and encourage active learning following the IAC procedures, culture, and objectives. Submit lesson plans to IAC Program Leader for review as needed.
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
  • Provide and use a variety of learning materials and resources for use in class.
  • Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies.
  • Take attendance and maintain attendance records.
  • Prepare and participate in class parties throughout the year (usually around Jewish Holidays) as needed.
  • Encourage students to learn as much as they can.
  • Create a warm, accepting, encouraging, and inclusive environment in which the students can flourish and develop their learning skills and love for Israel.
  • Assign and grade class work, homework, and assignments as needed. Upload the information to the platform in order to allow the parents to follow the students’ progress.
  • Provide & maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development.
  • Provide students and parents regularly with appropriate feedback on students’ work, progress, and needs. If needed, inform the IAC Program Leader as well.
  • Provide parents at the end of each lesson with a summary: What was learned, if homework was given, photos from the lesson, etc.
  • Reach out to the parents (individually or as a group) at the beginning of the program to explain about the program, its objectives and the learning methods that will be used during the lessons.
  • Participate in staff training, meetings, professional activities, seminars, and workshops as needed.
  • Enforce administration policies and rules governing the program.
  • At all times, behave following the core values of the IAC.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Valid teaching certificate and experience in Hebrew instruction required.
  • 2 years of related job experience (teaching children in K-12 grade).
  • Proficiency in Hebrew and English (Speaking, reading, writing).
  • Familiarity with Israeli culture and Jewish tradition.
  • Natural love and ability to work and relate to children.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and listening skills.
  • Action-oriented and able to multitask.
  • Creative, Energetic, and Proactive.
  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate issues to parents.
  • Ability to get the most out of each child.

*Full-time employees working 20 plus hours per week shall be eligible for insurance benefits (medical, dental, vision, & life) following the new hire waiting period.
