Role Overview
University of Arizona Hillel is seeking a Student Engagement & Advocacy Manager to help lead and grow Jewish student life at one of the largest campuses in the country.
This role combines relationship-based engagement, student leadership development, and advocacy. You will build meaningful relationships with students, mentor emerging leaders, help students navigate challenges facing Jewish life on campus, and create opportunities for them to connect with Judaism, community, Israel, and one another.
The ideal candidate is a natural connector, confident leader, and strong communicator who is energized by working directly with students and helping them turn ideas into action.
What You’ll Do
Student Engagement & Leadership
- Build meaningful relationships with Jewish students across campus
- Develop strategies to engage students who are not yet connected to Hillel
- Mentor student leaders and support leadership development initiatives
- Supervise Engagement Associates and help guide engagement efforts
Programs & Community Building
- Lead and support Shabbat, holiday, social, leadership, and Israel-focused programs
- Partner with students to create experiences that are relevant, welcoming, and impactful
- Support Birthright Israel recruitment, staffing, and post-trip engagement
Advocacy & Campus Relations
- Champion student advocacy initiatives and Jewish pride on campus
- Support students navigating antisemitism and campus climate challenges
- Advise student advocacy and Israel-focused leadership groups
- Build relationships with university partners, student organizations, and community stakeholders
- Help plan and implement advocacy and educational initiatives throughout the year
Team & Operations
- Track engagement outcomes and help evaluate impact
- Contribute to organizational strategy and goal setting
- Foster a collaborative, student-centered team culture
What You’ll Bring to the Job
- Bachelor's degree required
- 2+ years of professional experience in student engagement, Jewish communal work, education, advocacy, campus life, or a related field
- Strong relationship-building and leadership skills
- Ability to mentor students and manage multiple priorities
- Passion for Jewish life, Israel engagement, leadership development, and community building
- Sound judgment, initiative, and a collaborative spirit
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and Jewish holidays
- Experience in advocacy, Greek life, student leadership, athletics, or highly social campus environments is a plus
What You’ll Receive
- Salary range: $55,000 - $65,000
