IACT & Greek Life Experience Specialist

Hillel at Arizona State University

Role Overview

Make your mark on Jewish student life by joining Hillel at Arizona State University as the IACT (Inspired, Active, Committed, Transformed) & Greek Life Experience Specialist. At Arizona State University—home to 3,500+ Jewish students and recognized as the nation’s most innovative university for nine years—your work will meet students where they are, sparking curiosity and building accessible pathways to Jewish engagement through Birthright Israel and Greek Life engagement.

With 85% of ASU’s Jewish students reporting little prior connection to Jewish life, the opportunities for impact are immense. You will be integral to Hillel’s success as you champion our Birthright Israel immersive program and Greek life initiatives that inspire and engage hundreds of students each year.

This is primarily a student-facing role with moderate other responsibilities, designed so that you can drive our Greek Life and Birthright Israel strategy forward, while sitting on campus 80% of the time. At ASU Hillel, every student’s journey is sacred, and every interaction is an opportunity to inspire vibrant Jewish lives. This is more than a job—it’s a mission to shape the next generation of leaders and changemakers.

What You’ll Do

Birthright Israel Management

  • Staff and oversee the recruitment and marketing for two trips annually, summer and winter.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for our trip organizer.
  • Organize and coordinate participant interviews and manage the Birthright Israel pipeline participant list.
  • Mentor and supervise Birthright Israel recruitment interns and trip follow-up interns.
  • Curate pre-trip orientations and post-trip reunions to build a cohesive and tight-knit cohort experience.
  • Provide personalized follow-up and educational opportunities to help Birthright Israel alumni stay engaged in Jewish life and strengthen their connection to Judaism, Israel, and Hillel

Greek Life Engagement

  • Execute a detailed strategy that engages 200+ Greek life students on campus annually.
  • Launch two Greek-specific cohort experiences per year that overlap with your interests and the students you meet (this may look like teaching a Jewish learning and/or Israel course).
  • Host weekly programming in the Greek Leadership Village to foster community and connection where Greek students live.
  • Produce Greek-specific programming for holidays and Shabbat to bridge the gap between Greek and Jewish life.
  • Mentor and supervise the Greek life student co-chairs and committee members.
  • Build relationships with key partners, including Greek life faculty and advisors, to expand Hillel’s presence in the overall Greek life community.

Team & Overall Engagement Responsibilities

  • Hold at least 5 student conversations/week to develop 1/1 relationships.
  • Achieve student engagement goals as set by the Associate Director.
  • Staff community-wide socials, Shabbat and holiday programming, ensuring each and every student feels warmly welcomed into Hillel’s “doors.”
  • Support immersive experiences by recruiting for Birthright Israel, Jewish Learning Fellowships, and social cohort experiences.

What You’re Great At

  • Understanding the needs of a highly diverse, social student population and putting people before programs.
  • Prioritizing a diverse workload, setting attainable expectations, and following through.
  • Seeing the big picture goals amidst the day-to-day work.
  • Working in a collaborative team environment.
  • Addressing large crowds with enthusiasm and confidence.
  • Fluency with social media and design tools (Canva, LinkTree, Instagram, Facebook etc).
  • Working a flexible schedule that may vary day to day based on students’ needs and Hillel programs.

What You’ll Bring to the Job

  • A Bachelor’s degree and 0-2 years of professional work experience. Prior Hillel experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Prior participation in Birthright Israel/Israel immersive experience is strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience in Greek life is highly encouraged.
  • A positive attitude and approach your work with curiosity, humor, and a growth mindset.
  • You are flexible, understanding that things may not always go according to plan, and you are willing to problem-solve and adapt.
  • Strong entrepreneurial spirit and excitement about the limitless possibilities of engaging every Jewish student.
  • Ability to collaborate across teams both inside and outside of Hillel.

What You’ll Receive

  • A competitive salary in the nonprofit marketplace. The salary range for this role is $46,000-$50,000.
  • A comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plan, Life, AD&D and Long Term Disability (LTD) insurances, Flexible Spending accounts, generous vacation/sick time, and parental leave.
  • Great professional development, mentoring, and skill-building opportunities, including the opportunity to be a part of a national cohort through the IACT program.
  • Opportunities to travel regionally and abroad, particularly to Israel
  • Phoenix is the 5th largest city in the country, with an affordable cost of living and easy access to some of the best hiking and nature preserves.
  • Additional Hillel at ASU benefits, like lighter winter and summer hours, the opportunity to present on passion projects, and lots of free coffee!
