MIT Hillel
Role Overview
Join a dynamic team as our Engagement Associate, at an exciting, supportive Hillel that has won a Great Place To Work award. Make your mark on Jewish student life at a stable Hillel with a longstanding Executive Director and staff, who will nurture your growth and development as a professional.
As the Engagement Associate, you will build relationships with students and help inspire them to make a commitment to Jewish life. You will build one-on-one relationships, draw out stories from people and help them make connections between their Jewish identity and their passions. You’ll build community by way of intentional conversations and creative experiences, and you will think and act strategically, both independently and as part of a team. You will serve as a Jewish young adult role model for our students, and they will be drawn to your approachable, dynamic, and engaging personality and outstanding interpersonal skills. Your talent for active listening will empower others to create their own connections to Jewish life that are meaningful to them.
This is a full-time, in-person position that reports to our Director of Engagement. The Engagement Associate is non-exempt; hours will cap at 40 hours/week, and they may be non-traditional, to include some evenings and occasional Sundays.
The ideal candidate is highly motivated, outgoing, and engaging. Every day brings new ways to connect Jewish young adults with opportunities to further their identities and practice active Jewish life.

- Patience, excellent listening skills, problem solving skills, and a strong entrepreneurial spirit.
- Belief that our work isn’t done until every Jewish student is connected to Jewish life.
- Flexibility, including the ability to work some nights and weekends as needed.
- Desire to continue developing your own relationship to Judaism.
- Willingness to admit what you don’t know, and excitement to learn in those areas.
- Inability to get off an airplane without having made at least one new friend.

- Competitive salary in the nonprofit marketplace. The salary for this role is $44,000-48,000.
- A comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, Group Supplemental Retirement Annuity (GSRA), pension plan, life insurance, Long Term Disability (LTD), Flexible Spending Plan, generous vacation/sick time, and parental leave.

About MIT Hillel
MIT Hillel, located on the campus of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, ensures a vibrant Jewish life at MIT for students and our extended community. The MIT campus, in Cambridge, MA, is part of greater Boston’s large and exciting university community.
Characteristic of the fact that MIT students are not afraid to challenge generally accepted ideas, any stereotype of the typical MIT student will not hold up to scrutiny. For example, 50% of MIT undergraduates are involved in Greek life and MIT has the highest percentage of students involved in athletics of any university. One can, however, generalize that MIT students are high energy, entrepreneurial, and bright.
MIT Hillel is affiliated with Hillel International. Hillel International enriches the lives of Jewish students so they may enrich the Jewish people and the world, and envisions a world where every student is inspired to make an enduring commitment to Jewish life, learning and Israel.
About Hillel International
In 1923, Rabbi Benjamin Frankel started Hillel with humble means, a noble mission and a breathtaking vision: to convey Jewish civilization to a new generation. Today, Hillel International continues to enrich the lives of Jewish students and is the largest Jewish campus organization in the world at more than 550 colleges and universities across North America and around the world. As Hillel evolves as an organization, the mission remains steadfast: to create lasting connections with every Jewish student that foster an enduring commitment to Jewish life, learning, and Israel and train them to become the next Jewish leaders.
Hillel is an equal opportunity employer. We are committed to creating an accepting and inclusive environment for all.
