We are seeking a driven Middle School Dance Teacher for the 2023-2024 school year that operates with a high sense of urgency and possesses a strong work ethic. Candidates for this position do NOT need to speak Hebrew. The School is fully committed to a culturally diverse faculty and student body. The school is eager to consider applications from traditionally underrepresented groups.

Job Responsibilities and Characteristics:

  • Build a classroom culture in which students love dance
  • Collaborate with Teachers across the network to build a world-class dance program while investing the community in the vital role of the arts in education;
  • Collaborate with Hebrew Public’s Director of Israel Studies to help students explore and develop an understanding of Israel and Israeli dance
  • Prior experience around Israel studies is welcomed but not required. Hebrew Public will provide training and support in these areas
  • Engage students with a repertoire that is relevant to their lives and interests; Design and execute professional-quality performance opportunities for all students
  • Ensure that students master grade-level standards
  • Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive environment in the physical education areas.
  • Boundless energy and enthusiasm for working with students and other adults in the building.
  • Performs other duties from time to time that may be assigned by the supervisor.
  • A person who believes in the critical importance of diversity in the life of a school

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required; Masters degree preferred;
  • Elementary and/or Middle School teaching experience preferred
  • Hold NYS teacher certification or working towards certification is preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Legally authorized to work in the USA

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Salary and benefits will be highly competitive, equitable, and commensurate with experience. Starting salaries range from $55,000-$90,000 based on experience.
