Hartford Kashrut Commission (HKC) is the oldest and only "vaad" in the area of central Connecticut. It serves retail, institutional and commercial clients. HKC operates by orthodox standards of kashrut, similar to OU, Star-K, Chof-K and CRC. The operations of the HKC are governed by a lay board and all halachic decisions are governed by a committee of local RCA rabbis serving OU congregations.
