The Senesh School, a progressive, independent K-8 Jewish day school in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn, is hiring a Co-Educational Volleyball – Head Coach for Fall 2025. The length of the season is two months (September- October) and includes 30 hours of work: eight 90 minute practices and supervision walking the team to and back from local practice facility 8 minute walk from school, 5 regular season matches against other area independent schools, plus season ending one-day Invitational Tournament. Responsibilities include:

  • Demonstrate patience and the ability to meet the needs of student athletes, regardless of experience
  • Instruct student athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training necessary to foster their development
  • Organize and direct practices in a safe manner that ensures both individual and team growth
  • Assess and manage players’ behavior while keeping the athletic coordinator informed of team performance and concerns
  • Ensure that health and safety precautions are taken at offsite practices and games and follow established procedures in the event of athlete injury, including reporting all injuries incurred in practice/games to the athletic coordinator in a timely manner
  • Model and maintain exemplary conduct towards players, officials, and spectators.
  • Foster an inclusive environment across all aspects of the team.

Qualifications and Dispositions:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; physical education or related area preferred
  • Prior experience coaching and/or playing volleyball with an emphasis and thorough understanding of the required technical and tactical skills
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to give feedback in a supportive and constructive manner
  • Knowledge of the rules and regulations, strategies, and techniques specific to youth volleyball
  • First-Aid / CPR certified (school will provide if not current)
  • Cultural competency and a commitment to diversity and belonging
