The Hebrew Educational Society, a thriving multi-service, comprehensive community center located in southeast Brooklyn, provides a diverse array of programs and services within a multicultural, multi-ethnic environment that is inclusive of people of all ages and ability levels. Programs include Early Childhood, After School, Camps, Athletic and Aquatic Activities, Older Adults & People with disabilities.
Position Summary: The Part-Time Social Service Facilitator supports children and adolescents in educational, community-based, and after-school settings by facilitating evidence-based prevention programming, providing behavioral support and crisis intervention, and maintaining accurate documentation. This is a part time position to facilitate and support evidence based practice groups during our summer program to promote positive behavioral, emotional, and social development while helping youth build healthy decision-making, communication, and coping skills.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize, facilitate, and document OASAS-approved Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) groups for children and adolescents.
- Conduct evidence-based prevention-focused discussion groups aimed at reducing at-risk behaviors and strengthening protective factors among youth.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation, data entry, case notes, and program records in accordance with agency, funding, and regulatory requirements.
- Provide behavioral support and crisis intervention for children exhibiting challenging, disruptive, or high-risk behaviors.
- Assist with crisis management and behavioral support within after-school programs and other youth-serving environments.
- Serve as a positive role model by demonstrating effective problem-solving, decision-making, communication, conflict-resolution, and assertiveness skills.
- Participate in weekly classroom, staff, and multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss student progress, behavioral concerns, and intervention strategies.
- Collaborate with H.E.S. team members, school personnel, families, and community partners to ensure coordinated care and support for youth.
- Promote a safe, supportive, inclusive, and therapeutic environment for all program participants.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Human Services, Education, or a related field preferred.
- Experience working with children, adolescents, and families in school, community, behavioral health, or after-school settings preferred.
- Knowledge of evidence-based prevention practices, behavior management techniques, and crisis intervention strategies.
- Strong communication, organizational, interpersonal, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Ability to establish positive relationships with youth, families, and community stakeholders.
- Ability to actively supervise and engage with children and adolescents in classroom, community, and recreational settings.
- Ability to respond appropriately and safely during behavioral crises and emergency situations.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and move throughout program locations as needed.
Schedule
- Part-time position Monday through Friday 9am-2pm
- May require occasional evening hours for family meetings, program activities, trainings, or crisis response.
Pay: $25.00 per hour
