WHAT YOU WILL DO:

The Behavioral Health Advisor is an exempt position who will conduct mental health assessments and provide ongoing individual and group-counseling services, screen immediate mental health crisis and provide crisis intervention services. Responsible for completing in-depth assessments for all clients to facilitate a thorough review of history, assess current issues and treatment needs, provide appropriate individual counseling and participation in group counseling.

  • Provide clinical services for the program, for adults, child and adolescent clients which includes individuais assessments, individual counseling, and group counseling.
  • Oversee the initial psychosocial assessments on each new client.
  • Provide weekly clinical supervision to program interns and provide case consultations at case staffing and STAR’s periodic staff meetings.
  • Conduct outreach and education to a network of mental health providers to build a trauma-informed network.
  • Ensure that clients are referred to mental health services through a network of mental health providers.
  • Ensure concise and timely completion of all documentation in electronic health records databases, progress notes within 48 hours of occurrence of the event to be documented.
  • Participate in monthly supervision and staff meetings and peer audits with program director and staff.
  • Perform other clinical duties as assigned by the Director.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

  • Master’s degree in behavioral health, or related field
  • Must be a licensed behavioral health professional with expertise in trauma informed care (Licensed Mental Health Counselor, or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist)
  • Ability to deal professionally, courteously and efficiently with clients and other employees.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write in the English language
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, listening) and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of community organization and resources.
  • Previous experience working with interpretation services.
  • Must have a valid driver's license with auto insurance coverage.
