What You Will Do

The Medical Coordinator is a non-exempt position responsible for ensuring the medical care of unaccompanied children (UCs), maintaining and overseeing working relationships with medical service providers, developing medical protocols, and assisting in identifying care providers who will accept the Office of Refugee Resettlement’s fee-for-service payment.

  • Ensure all UCs are seen by a medical provider for an Initial Medical Exam within 48 hours of admission to ensure they are fit and do not have any acute or emergency medical needs.
  • Participate in client staffings and follow-up as recommended.
  • Ensure the timely and concise completion of all paperwork and documentation, including but not limited to administrative, clinical, and caseload requirements.
  • Review and record pertinent information on medical charts and reports.
  • Locate and help contract medical providers to GCJFCS's network.
  • Assist providers and Point Comfort Underwriters with billing/claim questions; manage UC's insurance documents.
  • Inventory and maintain current nursing supplies, including lab products, over-the-counter and prescription medications, first-aid kits, and other pertinent medical equipment.
  • Administer medication at the time ordered and record on the medication administration sheet.
  • Supervise self-administration when appropriate.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

  • $29.33 - $34.80, per hour, depending on credentials and experience, plus shift differential of $.50 between 4 pm - 12 am Monday- Friday or $1.00 for weekends and overnight.

What You Will Need

  • A minimum of a Licensed Practice Nurse (LPN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) or higher health-related qualification (e.g., License Registered Nurse (RN) with a bachelor's degree in relevant field or bachelor's degree in a relevant field)
  • Must have a CPR and First Aid certification
  • Minimum of one (1) year of employment in public health or a healthcare setting with demonstrated experience in care coordination, health administration, or direct clinical care.
  • Experience working with children
  • Bilingual: English/Spanish, strongly preferred
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to form alliances with providers/organizations.
  • Ability to coordinate efforts, groups, company requirements, and activities to achieve program goals
  • Proof of Immunization for: Varicella (2 doses), MMR (2 doses), Influenza (1 dose yearly), Tdap (1 dose).
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with auto insurance coverage.
