WHAT YOU WILL DO:

The Director of Grant Accounting is an exempt position responsible for grant and contract billings, account analysis, budgets, and liaising between the Finance department and funders.

Supervisor Responsibilities:

  • Oversees Grant Accounting Department staff.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for contract billings as required by contract.
  • Responsible for all required financial reporting per contracts.
  • Reconcile the assigned balance sheet account analysis monthly.
  • Assist with the preparation of the company's annual projections and budgets.
  • Work with Grant Accountants by preparing grant proposal budgets and budget narratives as necessary.
  • Prepare and enter monthly journal entries.
  • Assist as needed with monthly general ledger closing.
  • Assist with audit work papers for annual audit and funder audits as assigned.
  • Assist Work Program staff with understanding financials.
  • Assist with funder annual monitoring visits.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

The Director of Grant Accounting must have a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or any related field, plus, eight (8) years of professional accounting experience, three (3) years of experience in nonprofit accounting with grant accounting and reporting responsibilities, and in addition to, three (3) years' experience in demonstrating leadership ability, team management, and people skills.

  • Proficient in Accounting systems, Concur, and Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., V-Lookups, Pivot tables).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to deal professionally and courteously with people.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Ability to maintain accurate and auditable records.
  • Skill in providing guidance and direction to various stakeholders.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial data, evaluate accounting problems, and recommend improved procedures.
  • Ability to work on various projects with different priorities.
  • Occasional travel required.
  • Ability to lift and/or carry office supplies, equipment, files, etc. up to 25 lbs. as needed.
