WHAT YOU WILL DO:

The Career Coach is a non-exempt, hybrid position dedicated to meeting clients where they are in their job search journey, offering personalized guidance, support, and resources based on their unique needs and circumstances. In addition to one-on-one coaching, this role involves curriculum development and facilitation of virtual and in-person workshops.

  • Demonstrate and uphold Gulf Coast JFCS’s Mission and Vision, and Core Values in all daily activities, decision making, and interactions with clients, staff, and community partners.
  • Work in partnership with the part-time career coaching staff and program director to build new job-search and career development programs, cross-facilitating with other GCJFCS programs and community partners.
  • Manage a case load of 35 or more job-seeking clients for individualized coaching.
  • Evaluate clients’ aptitude, values, education, experience, and skill levels for the purpose of identifying appropriate career directions; identify barriers or challenges to employment
  • Work with clients in various stages of their career development and job-search process; teach clients to utilize current job-search tools, resources, and strategies, identify transferable skills, career options, and employment pathways.
  • Guide and assist clients in developing relevant job-search skills, such as preparing effective résumés and cover letters, practicing interviewing and networking techniques, and utilizing social media in job-search activities.
  • Conduct mock interviews, strengths assessments, and career exploration sessions aligned with client needs.
  • Follow up regularly with clients to monitor progress, provide motivation, and adjust plans as needed.
  • Design and facilitate interactive, results-driven career readiness workshops—virtually and in person, adapting content for various audiences. Assess workshop effectiveness through participant feedback and make ongoing improvements.
  • Collaborate with the Program Director and staff to enhance coaching tools, approaches, and curricula
  • Assist with outreach and engagement activities to recruit clients and support program visibility.
  • Utilize virtual platforms (e.g., Zoom, Teams) to conduct remote coaching and workshops.
  • Manage client information using case management/CRM software.
  • Support clients with accessing virtual services and navigating basic technology needs.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Human Services, Business, Career Counseling, Education, Workforce Development, or a related field, and a minimum of 3 years of recent career coaching experience, or;
    • Associate’s degree in one of these fields with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience (including a minimum of 3 years of recent career coaching experience).
  • Experience in outplacement, workforce development, Human Resources, recruiting, or staffing company with a focus on career coaching, curriculum development, and delivery of job-search and career development workshops.
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
  • Résumé writing experience required.
  • Certified Employment Coach or Résumé Writer preferred.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
  • Knowledge of career and personality assessments.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and group communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with outstanding organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (including PowerPoint) and online video-conferencing platforms, i.e., Zoom and Teams.
  • Expertise in building LinkedIn profiles and using LinkedIn as a job-search and career development tool.
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate workshops and engage group audiences.
  • Solid understanding of the job market, employment trends, and employer expectations.
  • Ability to work under stressful client situations.
  • Ability to lift and/or carry supplies, files, etc., up to 25 lbs.
  • Must have a valid driver's license with auto insurance coverage.
