WHAT YOU WILL DO:

The Domestic Violence Specialist is a non-exempt position responsible for working on a monthly as needed basis to provide direct services and support to clients and case management staff in the Refugee programs.

• Collaborate with local domestic violence service provider agencies to liaise between organizations.
• Increase the capacity among network service providers to improve access to culturally competent domestic violence services and greater community awareness of identifying and caring for victims.
• Assist in creation and distribution of surveys that will be completed by staff employed in Refugee programs to determine knowledge and service gaps.
• Identify gaps in culturally and linguistically appropriate services for victims of domestic violence.
• Assist in assessing the policies, procedures, and practices of Refugee programs to ensure survivors of domestic violence receive services in a safe and appropriate manner.
• Complete continuing education training in Domestic Violence and trauma-informed services
• Participate in quarterly collaborative meetings with DCF.
• Conduct training on topics including but not limited to how to identify victims of domestic violence among refugee populations and how to create trauma-informed practices within resettlement.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

• Bachelor’s degree in relevant education with a minimum of two (2) years’ experience preferred.
• Associate degree in relevant education combined with two (2) years’ experience or a combination of education, work and life experience.
• Knowledgeable in domestic and sexual violence, child welfare, and working with immigrants.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to deal professionally, courteously, and efficiently with people.
• Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
• Must have valid drivers' license with current auto insurance coverage
