GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

The Oakland80 Manager will train, coach and support a team of Oakland80 Career and Education Navigators who will help residents make decisions about career and education paths. Navigators will support residents beyond traditional career and education advising or coaching. The support Oakland 80 Career and Education Navigators provide is personalized and holistic, helps individuals understand their value, and encourages individuals to consider unfamiliar types of career pathways and employment opportunities. Additionally, the manager will be responsible for collecting and maintaining program outcomes and required reporting. The manager will work closely with the Oakland80 administrator and other partners to develop and implement a strategy for customer outreach, engagement and retention. The manager will work closely with the Oakland80 administrator and county staff to market and brand the initiative.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a human service, social work, education or related field required (Masters preferred)

Other:

  • At least 3 years of direct management/supervision experience required.
  • Knowledge of current workforce systems and policies required (WIOA experience is a plus)
  • Experience engaging disadvantaged individuals in career, education or personal/family development.
  • Knowledge of Metro Detroit human service agency and services a plus.
  • Able to work well in a team environment, handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Strong written communication skills, ability to write clear, structured and articulate communications.
  • Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong technology and data entry skills including MS Office.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Partner with stakeholders to develop and implement an outreach and engagement strategy for enrolling customers benefit from education and/or career coaching and supports.
  • Identify gaps within referral partner network and work in collaboration with partners.
  • Develop a database of community resources available to Oakland County residents.
  • Provide coaching and support to navigators in providing outreach, career and education coaching and developing plans.
  • Collect and maintain required statistics and reporting.
  • Coordinate recruitment, screening, onboarding and training of staff.
  • Provide ongoing performance feedback to staff and complete required performance evaluations in a timely manner.
  • Partner with Oakland County staff to market programs and services.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Environmental conditions:

  • Moderate noise (i.e., business office with computers, phone, and printers, light traffic).
  • Ability to work in a confined area.
  • Ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period.

Physical requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, sit; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard, reach, stoop, kneel to install computer equipment.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work.
  • Light to moderate lifting in required.
