Development and Marketing Assistant

Position Summary:

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented full-time Development and Marketing Assistant to join our team at Gateways: Access to Jewish Education. Our organization provides high quality special education services, expertise, and support to enable children and teens with diverse learning needs to succeed in Jewish educational settings and participate meaningfully in Jewish life. The Development and Marketing Assistant will provide essential support to our Director of Development and Communications and help to achieve strategic fundraising goals by assisting in all development and fundraising efforts, including donor relations and communications, event planning, and database and project management. This role will also work to enhance Gateways’ visibility and impact by assisting the communications and marketing team with marketing campaigns, content creation, social media management and engagement, and website support. The ideal candidate is organized, creative, communicates skillfully, proactive, enjoys collaborating with team members, and is passionate about contributing to an organization dedicated to providing inclusive educational opportunities within the Jewish community.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with donor stewardship, outreach, and correspondence through digital and physical communications.
  • Organize and implement fundraising campaigns, including major gifts and annual appeals.
  • Maintain accurate donor databases and records, and track and report key fundraising metrics.
  • Collaborate with development and marketing teams to create compelling fundraising materials, presentations, marketing collateral, and external communications.
  • Manage gift and tribute acknowledgment letters and invoicing processes.
  • Oversee social media accounts, including content creation, posting, and follower engagement.
  • Update website with content and design elements.
  • Monitor website and social media metrics and collaborate with the marketing team to analyze organizational impact and reach.
  • Support development and event planning teams in coordinating and executing fundraising events, including Gateways’ annual signature event, Sweet Sounds.
  • Assist with preparation of materials for meetings with donors, Board of Trustees, and others.
  • Provide additional administrative support as needed.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent.
  • 1-3 years’ experience in development, fundraising, marketing, or nonprofit administration is preferred. Previous experience working with donor management software or databases (e.g., Bloomerang, Salesforce) is also preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills with great attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly with donors and key stakeholders.
  • Tech savvy, with proficiency and comfort in social media posting and engagement.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and familiarity with WordPress, Canva, and Constant Contact.

Compensation

This is a year-round, 32-hour/week position, with a salary range of $45,0000-50,000 based on experience.

Educational Specialist

Position Summary:

The Educational Specialist is a part-time position responsible for supporting students and teens who participate in Gateways Jewish Education Programs (GJEP). Students in GJEP range in age from 5 to 22 and have a variety of disabilities and support needs. The Educational Specialist will support the learning and behavior of the students in the program as well as curriculum development. The position reports to the Assistant Director of GJEP. The program meets from 9:15am-1:45pm during the school year excluding Jewish holidays and public school vacations.


Duties and Responsibilities:

Support Student Learning and Behavior
  • Assume primary responsibility for teaching class(es) and provide mentoring and feedback to one-to-one teen volunteers (classroom aides)
  • Support the implementation of learning and behavioral strategies for GJEP students
  • Respond to crises and other challenging incidents as needed, and complete any necessary documentation
  • Meet regularly with program leadership to review plans and goals for students
  • Review students’ forms, reports and school IEPs, document weekly progress, and write end of year progress reports
Curriculum and Materials Development
  • Collaborate with other GJEP staff to develop curriculum, as well as corresponding classroom materials and visuals (such as visual schedules, social stories, Torah reading pages, electronic siddurim on AAC devices, and electronic materials for online tutoring), modified to accommodate students with a wide range of needs.
  • Support the implementation of the Gateways Hebrew decoding program and sight word reading program
Center for Professional Learning
  • Develop and implement training workshops for educators on a variety of special education related topics
  • Develop materials and trainings drawn from Gateways programmatic expertise (e.g., B’nei Mitzvah, Mitzvah Mensches, etc.) for use in other educational settings
  • Provide individualized coaching, consultation, and training to external professionals, synagogues, schools, families, and other organizations to share expertise around accessible Jewish education, Hebrew decoding, Bnei Mitzvah, and more

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working with children with complex learning challenges, preferably in formal educational settings or classrooms.
  • Bachelor’s degree in special education or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Knowledge of Jewish holidays, customs, and traditions, with the ability to read Hebrew.
  • Passion for working with children and supporting their learning and development.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills.

Compensation

Starting salary of $35,000-42,000 for approximately 20 hours/week of work, commensurate with experience and scope of work. For candidates looking for a full-time position, there may be the opportunity to combine this role with other areas of work (e.g., Shiluv Program Coordinator and/or learning/behavioral specialist for working in Jewish day schools).

Shiluv Program Coordinator

Position Summary:

Shiluv, Hebrew for “inclusion,” is an innovative Gateways program that transforms attitudes, fosters belonging, and cultivates a culture of respect and appreciation for learning, physical, emotional, and developmental differences within Jewish educational settings. Educators participate in an eight-month fellowship guided by experts, where they explore personal, institutional, and communal attitudes toward disability, identify areas for change, and implement strategies to build inclusive school communities. Fellows gain access to the Shiluv Curriculum for grades K–5, featuring lesson plans, book discussion guides, Jewish text studies, and resources for hosting guest speakers who have lived experiences of disability. During the fellowship and beyond, educators implement the multisensory, experiential curriculum, creating meaningful opportunities for students to reflect on their own traits, appreciate individual differences, and brainstorm ways to foster belonging and equity. By transforming attitudes about disability and building communities of belonging through a uniquely Jewish lens, Shiluv redefines disability inclusion within Jewish education.

Gateways is currently hiring a coordinator to oversee the implementation of the Shiluv Peer Disability Education Program, including coordinating the Faculty Fellowship, overseeing curriculum implementation, supporting curriculum development, and promoting the program.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate Shiluv Faculty Fellowship, including:
    • Regular communication with participating schools and fellows
    • Leading monthly webinars, in partnership with co-facilitators
    • Sharing curricular materials with teachers
  • Facilitate Shiluv curriculum directly with Jewish day school students in select schools in the Greater Boston area
  • Coordinate featured speakers who will speak with students about their lived experience with disability
  • Curriculum development: Collaborate with other Gateways staff to continue to update and expand the Shiluv curriculum
  • Support program marketing efforts, in collaboration with Gateways’ Communications Manager and other Gateways staff
  • Coordinate with schools implementing the curriculum and ensure licensing is up to date
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of three years of related experience
  • Experience with a variety of student assessment tools and strategies; additional experience in coaching or consulting to teachers preferred
  • Thoughtful communication skills; professionalism and sensitivity in interacting with parents, teachers, and a diverse learning population
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Master’s degree in special education
  • Ability to support elementary and middle school students in math
  • Reading certification in Wilson or Orton-Gillingham, or related experience delivering systematic reading instruction to students with reading disabilities, and a willingness to grow professionally

Compensation

Starting salary of $12,000-18,000 for approximately 10 hours/week of work, commensurate with experience and scope of work. As the program expands there may be the opportunity to increase hours.

Learning Specialist (Special Educator)

Position Summary:

Gateways is seeking a part- time special educator to work in Jewish private day schools providing both direct service to students in elementary and middle school and consultation to teachers. Opportunities will also be available to facilitate Gateways’ professional development within those schools. This is a school-year position, 2-3 days a week, and reports to the Director of Day School Programs. Salary $50-70/hour.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Determining students’ needs through observation and assessment
  • Developing and implementing individualized student learning plans and or IEP goals
  • Providing direct specialized instruction to individuals and small groups
  • Providing coaching and consultation to teachers on differentiation and implementation of inclusion strategies and participating in student support/grade level meetings
  • Writing student progress reports in the middle and end of the school year
  • Attend IEP meetings when able

Special Education Professional Development Coach (Early Learning)

Position Summary:

As Gateways continues to grow and expand our offerings both within the greater Boston area and beyond, the Early Learning Special Education PD Coach will work to provide expertise to Jewish early learning centers in the areas of child development and inclusive practices. Gateways’ coaches each work to provide customized support, professional development and guidance as requested by our partner schools. This position reports to the Director of Professional Learning and Consultation.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop curriculum.
  • Provide professional development to educators.
  • Coach directors, developmental specialists, and/or teachers.
  • Observe preschool settings and provide consultation services.
  • Respond in a timely fashion to emails and phone calls with the Director of Professional Development and Consultation.
  • Be responsive and communicate efficiently with early learning center directors.
  • Provide notes and other relevant information from coaching, PD sessions and peer reflection sessions to the Director of Professional Development and Consultation.
  • Other duties as contracted.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in early childhood and special education required
  • BA/BS degree in early childhood and special education or a related field
  • MA/MS or equivalent experience in early childhood and special education or a related field
  • Experience in Jewish education preferred
  • Knowledge of Jewish holidays, customs, and traditions preferred
  • Experience teaching and/or coaching adults
  • Experience in the development of curricula or workshops aimed at adults

This is a contract position. Early Learning Special Education PD Coach will be hired on an as-needed basis for projects and professional development opportunities.
