Development Assistant/Executive Assistant
Position Summary:
Gateways is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented full-time Development Assistant/Executive Assistant to join our team. This role will provide essential support to our Director of Development and Communications to assist in all development efforts, including fundraising activities, donor relations, event planning, database and project management as well as executive assistance to the Chief Executive Officer in coordinating Gateways Board and committee meetings, and overall support to enable them both to meet strategic fundraising goals. The ideal candidate is organized, possesses excellent communication skills, thrives in a collaborative environment, and is passionate about contributing to an organization dedicated to providing inclusive educational opportunities within the Jewish community.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate planning for Gateways board and committee meetings, including scheduling, preparation and dissemination of agenda and materials, implementing and collecting surveys, meeting set-up/take down as needed (virtual or in person)
- Attend Gateways Board of Directors meetings (approximately six evenings/year, some virtual or in person); prepare first draft of minutes for review.
- Partner with Director of Development and Communications to coordinate and support Chief Executive Officer’s fundraising activities, support flow of donor acknowledgement letters and tribute letters.
- Support senior staff team, which includes attending various meetings and participating in project implementation, taking notes, and ensuring key action items are followed up on.
- Manage Chief Executive Officer’s calendar and travel arrangements as needed.
- Assist in organizing and implementing fundraising campaigns, including donor outreach and solicitation efforts.
- Maintain accurate donor databases and records, and track and report key fundraising metrics.
- Maintain electronic and paper files as appropriate.
- Ensure timely, professional communication (verbal and written) with current and prospective donors.
- Manage gift acknowledgment process and invoice processing on a regular basis.
- Support development team and outside event planner in coordinating and executing fundraising events.
- Collaborate with the development team to create compelling fundraising materials, reports, and presentations; may include external communications and social media.
- Assist with preparation of materials for Director of Development and Communications in advance of Board of Trustee meetings and other events.
- Provide administrative support, such as scheduling meetings, managing calendars, and handling correspondence.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent.
- 1-3 years’ experience in development, fundraising, or nonprofit administration is preferred. Previous experience working with donor databases a plus.
- Strong organizational skills with great attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly with donors and key stakeholders
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and donor management software (e.g., Salesforce, Virtuous, Bloomerang). Familiarity with WordPress, Asana, Canva, and Constant Contact a plus.

- Gateways is based in Newton, MA, with year-round staff working mainly remotely and office space available as needed for in-person work. Because responsibilities for this position include support of meetings and professional development which will be offered in person in the Boston area, local residency is preferred.
Compensation
- This is a year-round, 32-hour/week position, with a salary range of $50,000-55,000 based on experience.

Learning Specialist (Special Educator)
Position Summary:
Gateways is seeking a part- time special educator to work in Jewish private day schools providing both direct service to students in elementary and middle school and consultation to teachers. Opportunities will also be available to facilitate Gateways’ professional development within those schools. This is a school-year position, 2-3 days a week, and reports to the Director of Day School Programs. Salary $50-70/hour.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Determining students’ needs through observation and assessment
- Developing and implementing individualized student learning plans and or IEP goals
- Providing direct specialized instruction to individuals and small groups
- Providing coaching and consultation to teachers on differentiation and implementation of inclusion strategies and participating in student support/grade level meetings
- Writing student progress reports in the middle and end of the school year
- Attend IEP meetings when able
Qualifications:
- A minimum of three years of related experience
- Experience with a variety of student assessment tools and strategies; additional experience in coaching or consulting to teachers preferred
- Thoughtful communication skills; professionalism and sensitivity in interacting with parents, teachers, and a diverse learning population
- Strong organizational skills
- Master’s degree in special education
- Ability to support elementary and middle school students in math
- Reading certification in Wilson or Orton-Gillingham, or related experience delivering systematic reading instruction to students with reading disabilities, and a willingness to grow professionally

Occupational Therapist
Position Summary:
Gateways is seeking an occupational therapist to work in Jewish private day schools providing both direct service to students and consultation to teachers. This is parental leave coverage, projected at 25-30 hours/week, from late October to mid-January. Position reports to the Director of Day School Programs. Hourly rate $50-$70 for direct and indirect time.

- Determining students’ needs through observation and assessment
- Developing and implementing individualized student learning plans
- Providing direct specialized instruction to individuals and small groups both in and out of the classroom
- Providing coaching and consultation to teachers on implementation of inclusion strategies
Qualifications:
- A minimum of three years of related experience
- Experience with a variety of student assessment tools and strategies; additional experience in coaching or consulting to teachers preferred
- Thoughtful communication skills; professionalism and sensitivity in interacting with parents, teachers, and a diverse learning population
- Strong organizational skills
- MA license as a registered Occupational Therapist
- Ability to travel between schools

Position Summary:
Gateways is seeking a special educator to work in Jewish private day schools providing both direct service to students in high school and consultation to teachers. Opportunities will also be available to facilitate Gateways’ professional development within those schools. This is a school-year position, 2-4 days a week (16-32 hours), and reports to the Director of Day School Programs. Hourly rate $53-$70 for direct and indirect time.

- Providing direct specialized instruction to individuals and small groups
- Providing coaching and consultation to teachers on differentiation and implementation of inclusion strategies and participating in student support/grade level meetings

Special Education Professional Development Coach (Early Learning)
Position Summary:
As Gateways continues to grow and expand our offerings both within the greater Boston area and beyond, the Early Learning Special Education PD Coach will work to provide expertise to Jewish early learning centers in the areas of child development and inclusive practices. Gateways’ coaches each work to provide customized support, professional development and guidance as requested by our partner schools. This position reports to the Director of Professional Learning and Consultation.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop curriculum.
- Provide professional development to educators.
- Coach directors, developmental specialists, and/or teachers.
- Observe preschool settings and provide consultation services.
- Respond in a timely fashion to emails and phone calls with the Director of Professional Development and Consultation.
- Be responsive and communicate efficiently with early learning center directors.
- Provide notes and other relevant information from coaching, PD sessions and peer reflection sessions to the Director of Professional Development and Consultation.
- Other duties as contracted.
Qualifications:
- Experience in early childhood and special education required
- BA/BS degree in early childhood and special education or a related field
- MA/MS or equivalent experience in early childhood and special education or a related field
- Experience in Jewish education preferred
- Knowledge of Jewish holidays, customs, and traditions preferred
- Experience teaching and/or coaching adults
- Experience in the development of curricula or workshops aimed at adults
Compensation:
This is a contract position. Early Learning Special Education PD Coach will be hired on an as-needed basis for projects and professional development opportunities.
