Job description
Summary
As the Director of Youth Services, you will oversee programs aimed at supporting youth.
Reporting to senior management, your role encompasses supervising staff, program
development, and relationship management. You will leverage your core skills with
youth and administration to enhance service delivery. Your premium skills in
management and program management will be essential in budgeting and ensuring
effective operations. By fostering a positive environment, you will play a vital role in
empowering youth and promoting their well-being within the community.

Responsibilities

  • Program Supervision & Operations: Supervise licensed before- and after-school programs, conduct regular site visits, and support site directors as needed.
  • Regulatory Compliance & Administration: Manage administrative duties for NYS OCFS-licensed programs, ensuring full regulatory compliance across staff and child files, healthcare protocols, and license renewals.
  • Summer Camp Administration: Assist with summer camps by handling administrative operations for DOH-licensed programs and maintaining American Camp Association (ACA) accreditation standards.
  • Holiday Program Management: Serve as Co-Director for Holiday Programs, overseeing planning, implementation, daily on-site leadership, staffing, transportation, trip bookings, and entertainment.
  • Family & Community Engagement: Communicate directly with families, conduct tours, meet with prospective participants, lead orientations, and collect feedback via surveys to promote program growth.
  • Cross-Departmental Logistics: Collaborate with registrars to schedule staff, arrange transportation, and distribute necessary materials to program sites.
  • Youth & Family Event Support: Assist with teen programming, out-of-school time activities for school-age children, and holiday special events.
  • Staff Leadership: Drive staff recruitment, interviewing, performance management, and ongoing professional development.
  • Financial & Resource Management: Prepare and monitor department budgets to ensure fiscal health, manage inventory, and order program supplies.
  • Executive Support: Assist the Program Director with additional operational tasks as needed.

Qualifications

  • Leadership Capabilities: Demonstrated supervisory experience and strong community-building skills.
  • Administrative & Organizational Skills: Exceptional organizational capabilities with strong attention to detail.
  • Communication: Superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of NYS OCFS and DOH regulations; familiarity with ACA accreditation standards is preferred.
  • Relevant Experience: Direct background working with families, school-age children, and teens, alongside experience in camping and recreation.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in the field of camping, recreation, or education
  • Minimum of one year supervising staff
