Job Summary:
As a Fitness Desk staff member, you are the welcome of the fitness department of the JCC. Primary responsibilities include greeting members and guests in a positive manner, promoting fitness events, answering any fitness-related questions, and managing and maintaining the fitness floor. This position is PERMANENT and Monday – Friday mornings (5:30am – 9:30am).
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide essential customer service to ensure member satisfaction and member appreciation. Greet all members and guest upon their arrival and departure from the building
- Provide members and guests with information regarding membership structure, benefits, fees and policies and procedures of the agency. Conduct facility tours with prospective members
- Communicating with members and promptly informing Director of Fitness of all facility, equipment, and any other issues.
- Handle member concerns and complaints in a professional manner and report to the Director
- Maintain current knowledge about all programs, services and activities offered at the J in order to promote these services and assist members with inquiries of these areas.
- Supervise and maintain a clean and safe fitness floor. Enforce all Fitness Center rules and policies.
- Respond to first aid or medical emergency, adhering to JCC protocol. Report accidents and incidents to Director of Fitness

- Minimum age of 18 years old
- Minimum 6-12 month’s experience in customer service preferred or in a related field.
- Excellent communication skills; Ability to effectively interact professionally with all levels of internal and external personnel
- Flexible; Able to work early morning and potential weekends
- Team oriented
- Ability to establish relationships with staff and members within the community of the JCC.
- Ability to maintain an enthusiastic and professional demeanor while effectively and tactfully dealing with member and guest complaints and concerns
- Willingness to perform job tasks not part of immediate job responsibilities but aides in member satisfaction and getting the job done.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- CPR/First Aid certified preferred
