Responsible for assisting the LNHA in the overall administration of the facility. Under the direction of the LNHA, supervises operations of departments as directed by the Administrator. In the Administrator’s absence, the Assistant Administrator may assume responsibility for facility operations.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Assist the administrator, DON, and admissions with occupancy development.

2. Participate in department and resident meetings.

3. Provide education and monitor in-service education for employees.

4. Active participation in the survey process including knowledge of state and federal regulations related to the operations of a nursing facility.

5. Participate in the development and ongoing monitoring to ensure budget objectives are maintained.

6. Be available to residents and families and actively participate in concern resolution.

7. Special projects as assigned by the LNHA.

8. Provide supervision to assigned department heads and attend and participate in department head meetings.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

1. Must possess ability to function independently, have flexibility and the ability to work effectively with residents, co-workers, and other.

2. Must possess effective communication and interpersonal skills, particularly in dealing with elderly and ill populations, health care providers and community services.

3. Must possess ability to maintain confidentiality in regard to resident information and records.

4. Must possess general knowledge of care and procedures used to assist residents in daily care and comfort, utilizing all safety procedures.

5. Must possess knowledge of and the ability to use proper body mechanics to meet physical job demands.

6. Must possess ability to interact effectively with residents and their families and assist in providing emotional and social support.

7. Must possess knowledge of and the ability to properly record, chart, and document necessary information as required by established policies/procedures.

8. Must possess knowledge of federal, state, and county regulations as they relate to nursing home operations.

9. Must possess knowledge of infection control and universal precautions and the ability to apply same to essential job duties.

10. Must possess excellent organizational skills and the ability to accomplish several duties and meet schedule of various departments regarding resident care.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Minimum of 2 years' experience in a long-term care setting in a supervisory role.

2. Valid PA NHA License is preferred, or relevant experience will be considered.

PHYSICAL/WORKING CONDITIONS

1. Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of the facility which includes a medical and physical examination.

2. Must be able to walk, sit for extended periods of time. Bend, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds and occasionally push carts weighing up to 100 pounds.

3. Required to reach, handle and manipulate equipment as needed.

4. May be subject to exposure to hazardous chemicals.

5. May be subject to exposure to infectious waste, blood and body fluids, and diseases.

6. Must possess the ability to cope with the stresses of the environment.
