Qualifications

SUMMARY: This employee performs all general housekeeping tasks necessary to provide a clean, safe environment for all residents, staff and visitors within the facility.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Cleaning of resident rooms, bathrooms, training toilets, shower rooms, tea and TV rooms and all other public and private areas throughout the facility.

  1. Removing and rehanging curtains and drapes for laundering purposes.

  1. Sanitizing beds, furniture or other equipment, as assigned.

  1. Stocking supply closets and housekeeping carts with housekeeping supplies and chemicals.

  1. Treats the residents with respect and courtesy.

  1. Maintains confidentiality and respects residents’ privacy.

  1. Follows safety and Infection Control Policies and Procedures.

  1. Follows all other applicable department and facility policies.

  1. Attends staff inservice programs as scheduled.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. LANGUAGE SKILLS: The position requires the ability to hear oral instruction and pages and requests from both management and nursing staff. The position requires the ability to read and understand written communications, as well as instructions for chemicals and supplies.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Conforms to established work hours and maintains an acceptable work attendance record. Also has good interpersonal skills, treats residents, families/visitors and co-workers with courtesy.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representatives of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

This position requires walking or standing 100% of the time. The position requires bending, reaching, stooping, crouching and crawling in order to properly clean in, under, and around various objects.

The position requires use of a ladder for cleaning and hanging. Hands are used to handle cleaning products and equipment. The position requires use of the sense of smell for odor detection.

The position requires lifting up to 50 lbs. and pushing and pulling over 100 lbs. for the use of a housekeeping cart on 4 wheel casters or a dolly cart on 4-wheel casters.

The Housekeeping Aides are required to work in areas where the floor and/or walls may be wet. The position requires use of various chemicals which may produce fumes. The noise level in various areas of the Home that a Housekeeping Aide would encounter would be quiet to moderate.
