Educational Alliance’s Community Schools & Youth Development (CSYD) program delivers high-quality youth development programs throughout the Lower East Side. These services are integrated into the school day, after school programs, and summer enrichment opportunities. Partnering with several NYC public schools, CSYD collaborates with the NYC Department of Youth & Community Development (DYCD), NYC Office of Community Schools (OCS), The Boys and Girls Clubs of America (BGCA), and local school communities to meet the needs of young people and their families in all circumstances. Our team of social workers ensures social-emotional learning is embedded in our work, providing individualized care and attention when needed
.We are seeking a full-time Social Worker who will provide social work services and support to individuals and communities in need. The Social Worker will support individuals in managing various challengers they face in their daily lives. You will frequently work with clients dealing with neglect, abuse, domestic violence, mental health issues, and parental substance abuse.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Investigating suspected allegations of abuse and neglect and ensuring the safety and well-being of clients.
- Assessing and evaluating the needs of individuals and families to determine appropriate social work interventions based on their social and economic obstacles.
- Developing and implementing care plans to address clients' physical, emotional, and social well-being, subject to review by courts or regulatory bodies.
- Creating comprehensive case files, thorough court reports that adhere to legal standards, and relevant reports and referrals for Agency programs within specified deadlines.
- Entering data accurately online into one or more computer systems based on client interactions, assessments, and progress.
- Counseling and support individuals, families, and groups facing difficult situations or challenges.
- Collaborating with other professionals, such as psychologists, healthcare providers, and educators, to coordinate services and ensure comprehensive care.
- Advocating for clients' rights and access to resources, including social services, healthcare, and educational opportunities.
- Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of interventions and adjusting strategies as needed.
- Stay updated on social work best practices, research, and legal and ethical guidelines.
QUALIFICATIONS
- NYS LMSW required
- 1-3 years experience in a similar role
- Understanding of principles and techniques of interviewing necessary to determine facts and to clarify perceived relevant and significant information from hostile and/or reluctant individuals
- Knowledge of dynamics of human behavior, including individuals and families with various social, psychological, and economic challenges
- Awareness of various treatment modalities and alternatives for individuals and families with a variety of complex social, psychological, and economic challenges
- Analytical and Stress Management Skills
- Adaptable to changing needs and demands
- Must have outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of MS Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, preferred
