Educational Alliance’s Community Schools & Youth Development (CSYD) program delivers high-quality youth development programs throughout the Lower East Side. These services are integrated into the school day, after school programs, and summer enrichment opportunities. Partnering with several NYC public schools, CSYD collaborates with the NYC Department of Youth & Community Development (DYCD), NYC Office of Community Schools (OCS), The Boys and Girls Clubs of America (BGCA), and local school communities to meet the needs of young people and their families in all circumstances. Our team of social workers ensures social-emotional learning is embedded in our work, providing individualized care and attention when needed

We are seeking a full-time Community School Director to provide leadership at one of our community school sites. As the Community School Director, you will oversee the operations of community schools and ensure the effective delivery of educational programs, promoting student development and growth and preparation for college and careers. A central component of the Community Schools approach is the integration and alignment of school- and community- based services throughout an expanded learning day (such as health, mental health, counseling and academic enrichment). Critical to ensuring this alignment and coordination is an Educational Alliance employee who serves as a full-time staff person in the school building. The Community Schools Director reports to the Executive Director, Community Schools & Youth Development

RESPONSIBILITIES

The position requires advising the principal and coordinating activities among different partners in the school, focusing on the 6th-grade dean's responsibilities.

It involves collaborating with school leadership to track progress and outcomes.

The individual will organize Community School Team (CST) Meetings and assist in developing and implementing the school's Community School Plan within the Renewal School Comprehensive Educational Plan (RSCEP).

Building strong relationships with parents, students, and teachers is crucial, as is making sure stakeholders know their roles.

Collaboration with school leadership teams, teachers, and partner agencies to add expanded learning activities to the school schedule is necessary.

They will also link the school day with these activities and work with cross-agency departments to enhance access to services offered by Educational Alliance.

The person will be part of the school's attendance team, using data tools to monitor student progress and interventions.

Additional responsibilities include organizing assessments for student and family needs, facilitating targeted interventions for students with high needs, managing contract data systems, and ensuring family engagement through meaningful participation.

The role also includes coordinating vision screenings and health services, identifying local resources, and forming partnerships that align with school goals.

Participation in meetings and training to support Community Schools’ objectives is essential, along with any other duties assigned by the Executive Director

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's Degree required.
  • 3-5 years of experience in program management preferred, but all outstanding candidates will be considered
  • Strong program management skills and a sense of ownership over the programs that drive efficiency and excellence in all aspects of work.
  • Ability to work effectively with school aged youth, educators, families and communities from a wide range of cultural, social and economic backgrounds.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills are essential.
  • Passion for driving innovation, disrupting the status quo, trying new approaches, and tackling problems from many angles to find creative solutions.
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications.
