Camp Director

A New England Jewish overnight camp is seeking an enthusiastic, community-driven Camp Director to lead year-round operations and create transformative experiences for campers, families, and staff. This is a full-time position with on-site housing available.
About the Role
The Camp Director will oversee all aspects of camper experience, including camp programming, staffing, and operations. This individual will also spearhead community engagement. Significant support will be provided by a year-round team of staff and active and engaged Board of Directors. This is a unique opportunity to build on a strong foundation while shaping the future of a beloved camp through creativity, leadership, and care.
We are hiring now for this role – the start date is completely flexible, but immediate hiring is preferred.
Qualifications
- Must have prior experience as an Executive Camp Director, Camp Director or Assistant Director
- Candidates must live in New England year-round (*non-local candidates must be willing to relocate immediately)
- Minimum 3–5 years in summer camp leadership
- Proven team leadership and management experience
- Passion for Jewish values, community-building, and youth development
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Candidate must be willing to live on camp property during the camp season
Responsibilities
- Lead year-round planning and execution of summer camp operations
- Hire, train, and manage seasonal and year-round staff
- Foster a warm, inclusive, and Jewishly rooted camp culture
- Collaborate with lay leadership on strategic planning and vision
- Oversee camper recruitment and family communications
- Ensure compliance with safety, health, and licensing requirements
- Manage camp budget, vendors, and facility-related needs (with support from the Assistant Director and other year-round staff)
- Serve as the camp’s year-round ambassador to families and the broader community
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $70,000–$100,000 (flexible), depending on experience
- On-site housing available, if desired
