The Director of Development will shape and execute strategies that strengthen donor engagement, expand philanthropic partnerships, and support long-term organizational growth. Key Responsibilities

Fundraising Strategy & Execution

  • Develop and implement integrated fundraising strategies across individual giving, major gifts, corporate and foundation support, events, and planned giving.
  • Lead the annual fundraising program, generating more than $1M in revenue through diverse philanthropic channels.
  • Partner with the President & CEO to advance organizational fundraising priorities and shape donor engagement initiatives.

Donor Lifecycle Management

  • Cultivate, solicit, and steward donors at all levels, including securing gifts of $10K+ and nurturing long-term relationships.
  • Expand and diversify the donor base through targeted outreach and prospect identification.
  • Ensure donors experience meaningful engagement and communication that reflects their impact.

Events Leadership

  • Oversee all major fundraising events, working closely with event planners, external partners, and volunteers to ensure high-quality execution and strong revenue outcomes.
  • Integrate event strategy into the organization’s broader fundraising and marketing objectives.

Team Management

  • Supervise and mentor one direct report, providing guidance on communications, stewardship activities, and special events.
  • Support a collaborative, results-oriented development culture grounded in shared learning and accountability.

Marketing, Communications & Brand Visibility

  • Partner with communications staff to strengthen brand awareness and ensure alignment between fundraising and marketing strategies.
  • Enhance organizational visibility across South Florida through storytelling, campaign materials, and community engagement.

Board Engagement

  • Work closely with the President & CEO to support Board members in their fundraising responsibilities.
  • Provide tools, briefings, and strategic guidance to strengthen their involvement in donor cultivation.

Collaboration & Organizational Culture

  • Partner with program, grants, and community engagement teams to integrate fundraising priorities across the organization.
  • Serve as a positive cultural ambassador who embodies the organization’s mission and values.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Demonstrated success in donor cultivation, stewardship, and soliciting gifts at the $10K+ level.
  • Experience developing and implementing fundraising strategies across multiple revenue streams.
  • Background in donor databases and development operations; familiarity with Bloomerang preferred.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with comfort in donor-facing and external-facing roles.
  • Experience overseeing special events and coordinating with external contractors and volunteers.
  • Supervisory or mentoring experience preferred.
