Salary & Benefits: $65,000 - $80,000annually, commensurate with experience.
Position Summary:The Vice Principal plays a central leadership role in supporting the school's academic, social-emotional, and Jewish life. Working closely as an advisor to the Principal and senior leadership team, the Vice Principal helps cultivate a safe, inclusive, and values-driven learning environment where students, faculty, and families feel supported and challenged.
The purpose of the role is to enhance the capacity and effectiveness of the Upper Division administration with the ultimate goal of improving and expanding our educational program. While the projects within the VP’s portfolio may shift over the course of the year, the following list of priorities will serve as an initial guide.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Support student academic progress, social-emotional well-being, and behavioral growth.
- Partner with the Principal on student support plans, discipline, and restorative practices.
- Be a visible presence in classrooms, hallways, lunch, and school events.
- Support implementation of curriculum, assessment practices, and instructional initiatives.
- Promote a positive, respectful school culture grounded in Jewish values such as derech eretz (respect), kehillah (community), and tikkun olam (responsibility).
- Assist with classroom observations and professional growth conversations.
- Collaborate on faculty professional development aligned with school goals.
- Serve as a trusted point of contact for day-to-day instructional and classroom needs.
- Collaborate with department chairs, learning specialists, and counselors to support diverse learners.
- Help oversee schedules, coverage, and academic logistics as needed.
- Partner with families in supporting student growth and success.
- Communicate clearly, thoughtfully, and proactively with parents and caregivers.
- Represent the school professionally at events and community gatherings.
- Assist with daily school operations, including schedules, supervision, and coverage.
- Support emergency procedures and school safety protocols.
- Step in for the Principal as needed.
- Contribute to strategic planning and school improvement initiatives.
Requirements: An ideal candidate has the following qualifications or experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Education or Educational Leadership preferred.
- Prior teaching experience required; leadership experience strongly preferred.
- Experience in independent, private, or Jewish day school settings preferred.
- Strong understanding of adolescent development and student support practices.
- Familiarity with Jewish values, culture, and school life; Hebrew knowledge a plus.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
