Director of MDS Coordination & Quality Assurance

Full-Time | Exempt
Salary starting at $129,675 annually

Are you an experienced MDS leader with a passion for quality care, regulatory excellence, and team collaboration? We are seeking a knowledgeable and motivated Director of MDS Coordination & Quality Assurance to join our leadership team and help drive clinical accuracy, compliance, and exceptional resident outcomes in our long-term care community.

In this key leadership role, you will oversee the resident assessment process, coordinate quality assurance initiatives, support reimbursement accuracy, and lead regulatory compliance efforts across the facility. What You’ll Do

As the Director of MDS Coordination & Quality Assurance, you will:

  • Lead and supervise the MDS process, ensuring timely and accurate assessments and submissions
  • Chair weekly Medicare meetings and coordinate follow-up on key initiatives and scorecards
  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures related to resident assessments and quality assurance
  • Audit MDS documentation, care plans, therapy documentation, and plans of care to support compliance and education
  • Collaborate with nursing, therapy, finance, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure accurate documentation and reimbursement
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state assessment schedules and submission requirements
  • Organize and lead QAPI committee meetings, including agendas, reporting, and process improvement initiatives
  • Conduct audits, medical record reviews, and quality monitoring activities to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Serve as Risk Manager, coordinating with insurance carriers regarding claims and risk-related matters
  • Oversee medical record requests and ensure HIPAA compliance
  • Coordinate insurance communication and documentation updates
  • Assist with OMIG, RAC, ZPIC, and additional audit responses and appeals
  • Monitor and manage the MDS and Quality budget
  • Promote exceptional customer service and uphold residents’ rights and dignity

QualificationsRequired:

  • Current New York State RN license
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Professional Nursing
  • MDS Certification required
  • Membership with AANAC required
  • Minimum of:
  • 2 years of clinical experience in long-term care
  • 5 years in a management or supervisory role
  • 2 years of MDS experience

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Strong knowledge of CMS regulations, PPS, Medicaid/Medicare reimbursement, and quality measures
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills
  • Experience leading QAPI and quality improvement initiatives
  • Strong analytical and auditing abilities
  • Compassionate, resident-centered approach to care and teamwork
