Job DescriptionCongregation Emanu-El of the City of New York is seeking a Marketing and Communications Coordinator to join in supporting the temple’s various marketing and communication initiatives. The Coordinator will join a talented administrative team, working directly with and reporting to the Associate Director of Marketing and Communications. This position is primarily tactical, focused on raising the visibility and quality of temple messaging, promoting departmental events and programming. The Communications Coordinator will gain exposure across several different marketing and communication subjects and will have the opportunity to build deeper experience in areas that are of most interest, while maintaining core responsibilities. Core ResponsibilitiesThe Marketing & Communications Coordinator will perform the following duties and responsibilities:
  • With oversight from Associate Director, lead and coordinate the writing, editing and distribution of e-newsletters and other communications, including:
    • designing and editing weekly and monthly e-newsletters, as well as ad hoc dedicated emails, for clergy and other temple departments or programs, as needed
    • developing a process to welcome new virtual audience email subscribers
    • managing distribution lists by liaising with Membership and CRM teams
    • Create, monitor, and update website content; maintain website calendar and ensure accuracy in program listings
    • Support social media strategy and content creation, including:
    • monitoring services and engaging the online audience during Daily Sunset Services, which are livestreamed daily at 5:30 PM Monday – Thursday for approximately 20-30 minutes
    • building owned audiences (both Livestream and NextGen)
    • managing the online community, including virtual ushering, and responding to comments and DMs in a timely fashion
    • executing paid social media ad strategy in collaboration with the Social Media Associate
    • Occasionally taking photography or video at events
    • Work with various stakeholders (staff and lay leaders) to assist with their communications needs that primarily reach members of the congregation
    • Report on email and website analytics
    • Support utilization of Google Grant to raise brand awareness through Google Ads
    • Contribute to the production of the temple’s quarterly print calendar
    • Maintain promotions and event listings on third-party websites, such as PJ Library and TimeOut New York
    • Complete small-scale ad hoc research projects, as requested
    • Contribute to the temple’s overall marketing and communications strategy
    • Adhere to editorial calendar, goals, and timelines
    • Additional duties as assigned

    Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited 4-year university/college or relevant work experience
    • 2-3 years’ work experience; social media and design experience is a plus
    • Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
    • Working knowledge of email campaign tools, social media management, editing websites in WordPress, and basic HTML
    • Attention to detail and professionalism
    • Ability to occasionally work a more extended day or staggered work hours
    • Ability to handle multiple projects, work well under pressure, prioritize, meet deadlines, and produce quality results on schedule
    • Strong skills as a project manager and team player who can collaborate well with peers and senior management
    • Enthusiasm for the mission of Temple Emanu-El

    WORKING CONDITIONS
    • Ability to work some nights and weekends, provide support during the High Holy Days, and attend worship services, events, or meetings, as necessary
    • Flexibility to work staggered hours at times to cover evening or weekend events
