About Bonai Shalom
Congregation Bonai Shalom is a dynamic and growing – membership has increased from 230 to over 260 household units in the last 2 years -- USCJ-affiliated synagogue that endeavors to be a community rich in:
- Avodah – vibrant and traditional spiritual practice and meaningful lifecycle events
- Torah –flourishing K-7 religious school, USY teen group, and adult learning program
- Kehillah – inclusive community where members connect with one another socially, care for each other through acts of loving kindness, and steward the world beyond our walls through social action
Congregation Bonai Shalom believes that Torah is available to all, regardless of ability, race, color, economic status, ethnic origin, gender, gender identity, or sexual orientation. Bonai Shalom is an egalitarian synagogue of diverse membership that embraces traditional prayer and practice with openness and creativity. We strive to make a difference in our community and the world by preparing our children for Jewish life, providing adult education, strengthening connections to Israel, and participating in social action projects and green initiatives.
To support and enhance our growing membership, Bonai Shalom is now involved in the building of a new congregational home.
About the Executive Director Position
The Executive Director is a full-time exempt position reporting to the Board of Directors.
The position requires flexible hours to meet the needs of the Congregation.
Salary: $110,000-$125,000 commensurate with experience.
Who Should Apply
The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in organizational management, and we welcome applications from those with experience in secular non-profit and business sectors. The successful candidate will serve in a key decision-making role within the Congregation. We seek a person with emotional intelligence who can interact fluidly with membership, staff, Board of Directors and outside organizations_._
The candidate should have a passion for building and maintaining a successful Jewish organization. The following experience and skills are required:
- Strong management ability with an emphasis in leadership
- A proven track record in fundraising/development
- Excellent organizational abilities
- Interest in/knowledge of Judaism
- Strong writing skills
- Financial acumen
- Computer literacy
Although the precise scope of the Executive Director responsibilities may be modified in conjunction with the Board of Directors, they will include the following (in no order of importance):
- Office and Facilities Management
- Supervision of Administrative Staff
- Relationship with Board of Directors
- Relationship with Congregation, Community and Key Donors
- Financial Management
- Membership, Recruitment, Volunteer Engagement
- Fundraising and Development
- Security
- Event and Special Project Management
