Temple Beth Am
Temple Beth Am is seeking a passionate, creative, and relationship-driven Youth Engagement Coordinator to help inspire and connect our students in grades K–12 through meaningful Jewish experiences, leadership opportunities, and community-building programs.
This professional will work closely with the Director of Lifelong Learning, clergy, educators, teens, and families to create engaging formal and informal Jewish experiences that foster connection, leadership, identity, and belonging.
The ideal candidate is energetic, organized, collaborative, and excited to build relationships with children and teens while helping shape vibrant youth programming within our synagogue community.
Primary Areas of Responsibility
Teen Leadership & Mentorship
- Build meaningful relationships with teens and serve as a trusted mentor and role model
- Support and guide youth group leaders and board members in planning peer-led programs and events
- Facilitate leadership development opportunities and assist with youth group elections and leadership training
- Encourage teen involvement in synagogue life, social action, retreats, and community experiences
- Maintain connections with graduating seniors and college students
Youth Programming & Engagement
- Plan and execute engaging social, cultural, educational, and experiential programming for students in grades K–12
- Coordinate and supervise BAFTY youth group activities and programs
- Support and enhance Monday Night CHAI programming and teen engagement opportunities
- Develop creative points of entry for all youth with diverse interests
- Coordinate and chaperone select retreats, overnights, and youth trips
- Help create meaningful Jewish experiences that strengthen identity, friendship, and community
Education & Leadership Development
- Partner with clergy, educators, and staff to enrich Judaic learning experiences
- Supervise and support the Madrichim (teen teacher’s assistant/leadership) program, including leadership training opportunities
- Be an active and visible presence during Religious School and teen programming
- Write recommendation and community service letters for participating students when appropriate
Communication & Program Support
- Promote programs and events through digital communication, social media, and synagogue publications
- Assist with program logistics, registration, and event coordination
- Collaborate with lay leaders, parents, clergy, and staff to strengthen youth engagement efforts
- Support youth fundraising initiatives and maintain organized program records
Community Engagement
- Represent Temple Beth Am at community youth events and collaborative programs
- Build partnerships with local Jewish youth organizations and professionals throughout the Miami community
- Help foster an inclusive environment where every teen feels welcomed, valued, and connected
