Organization: MakomLocation: On-sitePosition Type: Part-Time / On-Call Job SummaryMakom is seeking a dedicated, reliable, and adaptable Substitute Teacher to support our community and educational programs. The Substitute Teacher will step in during regular staff absences to execute pre-assigned lesson plans, maintain classroom structure, and foster a welcoming, supportive, and inclusive learning environment for all participants. Key Responsibilities- Instruction & Program Delivery: Follow and deliver lesson plans left by the primary educator, ensuring continuity of learning and engagement.- Classroom Management: Maintain a safe, respectful, and organized environment that supports positive behavior and student well-being.- Supervision & Safety: Monitor participants during classroom activities, breaks, and program transitions to ensure safety protocols are strictly followed.- Adaptability: Flexibly adjust activities or teaching approaches to meet the diverse needs, age groups, and learning styles of participants.- Communication & Feedback: Keep detailed notes on participant progress, attendance, and any notable events or incidents to provide feedback to the lead teacher upon their return. Qualifications & Requirements- Education: High school diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Education, Judaic Studies, Child Development, or a related field is preferred.- Experience: Prior experience working with children, youth, or in an educational/community setting.- Skills: Strong communication, classroom management, and problem-solving skills; ability to build quick, positive rapport with students and staff. Makom takes place on Sundays from 9:00 am–12:00 pm at Agudas Achim.
