Agency Expectations

• Carry out assigned duties accurately and efficiently while following established processes and completing required

attendance, incident, and program documentation.

• Use agency and school resources responsibly, safeguard equipment and materials, and support cost-effective

program operations.

• Work effectively with supervisors, school personnel, coworkers, and partners to ensure clear communication,

timely task completion, and a positive, respectful environment.

• Follow all Commonpoint and DOE safety protocols, policies, and procedures, and promptly report concerns,

injuries, or incidents.

Role Expectations

• Plan and facilitate developmentally appropriate intramural sports, fitness activities, skill-building drills, games, and

friendly competitions for students in grades 9-12.

• Provide active supervision and maintain a physically and emotionally safe, inclusive environment for students of

varied skill levels and abilities.

• Teach and reinforce game rules, proper techniques, teamwork, sportsmanship, conflict resolution, leadership, and healthy competition.

• Prepare activity plans; set up, inspect, distribute, and safely store equipment; and ensure spaces are left clean and

organized.

• Take accurate daily attendance, monitor student participation, support outreach and retention, and submit

requested program records on time.

• Respond appropriately to injuries, behavioral concerns, and emergencies in accordance with established school

and agency procedures.

• Collaborate with Commonpoint and school staff regarding scheduling, space use, student needs, special events,

and program improvements.

• Serve as a positive role model and build supportive relationships that encourage student voice, belonging, and

consistent participation.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Current DOE staff member in good standing at the assigned school.

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.

• Experience coaching, teaching, mentoring, or facilitating recreational activities for high school students.

• Knowledge of one or more team or individual sports, fitness activities, and age-appropriate coaching practices.

• Ability to supervise groups, establish clear expectations, manage behavior positively, and engage students with

varied skill levels.

• Strong communication, organization, reliability, and collaborative problem-solving skills.

• Ability to complete all required screenings, clearances, trainings, and documentation.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• CPR, AED, and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain certification.

• Prior experience coaching intramural, interscholastic, community-based, or youth-development programming.

• Familiarity with DOE safety procedures, the school community, and inclusive/adaptive recreation practices.

York metropolitan area. Rates are determined based on internal and external equity, as well as each position's scope,

qualifications, and organizational impact. We believe in compensating staff fairly and consistently, ensuring that all

compensation decisions align with our mission-driven commitment to equity and transparency.

To maintain fairness across the organization, offers are set according to established compensation bands and are not

subject to negotiation.

Part-Time Rate: $35-$50 per hour

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Work is performed in person in a high school gymnasium, fitness space, classroom, field, or other designated

indoor or outdoor activity area.

• The role may involve exposure to loud noise, crowds, sports equipment, and changing indoor or outdoor

temperatures.

• Must be able to remain active for extended periods and regularly stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, demonstrate

physical activities, and move or lift equipment weighing up to 30 pounds, with or without reasonable

accommodation.

• Must be available during scheduled after-school hours and, when program needs require, occasional evening

events.

JOB DETAILS

• Schedule: Part-time, after school; specific days and hours will be determined based on the school calendar and

program needs.

• Location: Martin Van Buren High School.

• Non-union position.
