ABOUT THE ROLE
To continue advancing the impact we have across the communities we serve, Commonpoint is hiring a First Aid Supervisor (“Camp Nurse”) situated within the Summer of Arts and Sports Day Camp. The Summer of Arts and Sports Day Camp plays a vital role in creating a positive summer experience for the youth of Forest Hills. The individual hired as First Aid Supervisor will attend to all medical needs of campers ages 5–12, ensuring their health, safety, and well-being throughout the camp day. They will maintain medical supplies, respond to incidents, and communicate effectively with camp leadership regarding all health-related matters. This role reports directly to the Camp Directors.
Across the agency, our seasonal and part-time staff play a crucial role in driving our initiatives forward by supporting daily operations, program delivery, and organizational goals.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Agency Expectations
Support agency initiatives by carrying out assigned duties accurately and efficiently, while following established processes and contributing to basic data collection, reporting, or documentation as required.
Use agency resources responsibly by following established procedures, safeguarding equipment and materials, and/or supporting cost-effective operations.
Work effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and cross-department teams to ensure clear communication, timely task completion, and a positive, respectful work environment.
Follow all safety protocols, policies, and procedures to maintain a safe work environment for staff, partners, and the public, and promptly report concerns or incidents.
Role Expectations
Attend to all camper and staff medical needs, including minor injuries, illnesses, and first aid situations.
Maintain and restock all first aid kits and mobile medical bags daily.
Monitor campers with medical conditions, allergies, or medication needs and ensure proper care is provided.
Administer basic first aid and respond appropriately to medical incidents.
Communicate all medical incidents and concerns promptly to the Director, Assistant Director, and Division Heads.
Maintain accurate records of all medical visits, treatments, and incidents.
Ensure a clean, organized, and fully equipped health station at all times.
Serve as a caring, calm, and supportive presence for campers requiring medical attention.
Maintain confidentiality regarding camper and staff medical information.
Participate in staff meetings, orientations, and training sessions as required.
Ensure compliance with all camp health and safety policies and procedures.
Maintain a professional attitude at all times.
QUALIFICATIONS & KEY ATTRIBUTES:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Current First Aid and CPR certification required.
Prior experience working with children required.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Interest in nursing or the pediatric medical field.
Previous experience in a camp or healthcare setting.
Previous experience in a Commonpoint role is a plus.
Bilingual Preferred

WORKING CONDITIONS & JOB DETAILS
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Environment: Primarily indoors in a camp facility, with regular outdoor activities including playground time and scheduled swimming sessions.
Exposures: Exposure to typical indoor and outdoor conditions, including moderate noise levels from children and staff, and seasonal weather during outdoor activities (heat, sun, or light rain).
Essential Physical Requirements: Ability to actively engage with children, including standing, walking, bending, stooping, and participating in recreational activities. Must be able to supervise children in and around water and participate in swimming activities.
Physical Effort/Lifting: Light physical effort required; ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds.
Work Schedule: Regular daytime hours, typically 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. No late nights required. Occasional weekend work may be required depending on camp programming.
Travel Requirements: Occasional local travel for off-site field trips; no overnight travel required
