ABOUT THE ROLE
To continue advancing the impact we have across the communities we serve, Commonpoint is hiring an Nurse/EMT situated within IslandQuest Day Camp. Island Quest Day Camp plays a vital role in providing a high quality camp experience. The individual hired as Nurse/EMT will provide medical care and first aid to campers and staff, ensuring a safe and healthy environment throughout all camp activities. Maintain and update medical records and binders in compliance with Department of Health (DOH) standards, including documentation of treatments, medications, and incident reports. This role reports directly to the Associate Camp Director and Camp Director.
Across the agency, our seasonal and part-time staff play a crucial role in driving our initiatives forward by supporting daily operations, program delivery, and organizational goals.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Agency Expectations
Support agency initiatives by carrying out assigned duties accurately and efficiently, while following established processes and contributing to basic data collection, reporting, or documentation as required.
Use agency resources responsibly by following established procedures, safeguarding equipment and materials, and/or supporting cost-effective operations.
Work effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and cross-department teams to ensure clear communication, timely task completion, and a positive, respectful work environment.
Follow all safety protocols, policies, and procedures to maintain a safe work environment for staff, partners, and the public, and promptly report concerns or incidents.
Role Expectations
Work all days(scheduled)-Monday-Friday 9:00am-3:30pm June 29th to August 21st and reachable by phone until 6:30pm
Make sure to have First Aid RTE and CPR Pro Certification up to date before the start of camp
Help lead, supervise, and organize campers and staff during activities and throughout the camp day.
Provide timely first aid, assessment, and basic medical care to campers and staff during all camp activities
Maintain accurate, organized medical records and ensure all documentation meets DOH standards
Administer medications as prescribed and track all treatments, incidents, and follow-up care
Monitor campers with allergies, chronic conditions, or special medical needs and communicate concerns to leadership
Ensure the medical office is clean, stocked, and prepared for daily operations and emergencies
Attend and be present at Parent Orientation on June 14th to review health procedures and address family questions
Be available on June 28th to set up the medical office, organize paperwork, and confirm all records are complete and ready for camp opening
QUALIFICATIONS & KEY ATTRIBUTES:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Current certification as an EMT, Registered Nurse (RN), or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), with valid state licensure where applicable
Up-to-date CPR/AED and First Aid certification (professional-level)
Prior experience in pediatric care, emergency response, or camp/school health settings preferred
Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain accurate medical records in compliance with DOH standards
Ability to assess and respond quickly to medical situations with sound judgment
Excellent communication skills for working with children, families, and staff
Ability to work independently while collaborating with camp leadership and external medical providers
Must pass required background checks and meet all camp and state health regulations
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience working in a camp, school, or pediatric healthcare setting
Familiarity with Department of Health (DOH) regulations and medical record-keeping requirements
Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
