Seasonal Position | Summer 2026

Position Summary
Commonpoint Bay Terrace Center is seeking a qualified and experienced Head Lifeguard to support the management team in overseeing aquatic operations at the facility. The Head Lifeguard plays a key leadership role in maintaining a safe, well-supervised aquatic environment and assisting with the pool's daily operations and lifeguard staff.

This position works closely with the BTC Senior Director, Pool Club Managers, and Aquatics Manager to ensure proper staffing coverage, safety compliance, and high-quality service for members and guests.

Primary Responsibilities
● Assist in the daily operations of the aquatic facility.
● Monitor the pool deck to ensure proper lifeguard coverage in accordance with all local regulations and safety standards.
● Enforce all BTC policies, safety procedures, and facility rules.
● Schedule lifeguard staff and ensure appropriate coverage during all operating hours.
● Participate in the lifeguard rotation as needed, particularly during the early season and periods of high attendance.
● Plan and conduct lifeguard in-service trainings and ongoing safety drills.

● Assist with pool maintenance, including monitoring chemical levels, maintaining chlorine inventory, backwashing filters, and ensuring overall pool cleanliness.
● Maintain a safe and organized pool deck environment at all times.
● Attend all management and staff meetings as required.
● Participate in regular check-in meetings with the Aquatics Manager.
● Engage with members and guests to provide a positive and welcoming experience.
● Assist management with incident reporting and emergency response when necessary.

Qualifications
Candidates must:
● Have a minimum of 3 years of lifeguarding experience, preferably at an outdoor aquatic facility.
● Demonstrate the ability to respond calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
● Be reliable, responsible, and able to work independently while supervising others.
● Possess strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
● Demonstrate the ability to motivate staff and maintain a professional environment.
● Be able to follow verbal and written instructions and enforce facility policies consistently.


Required Certifications
● Current American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification
● Current CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer Certification


Preferred
American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Certification or willingness to obtain

Schedule

The Head Lifeguard is expected to work full-time (approximately 5 days per week) during the summer season.


Season Dates:
May 23 – September 7, 2026


Head Lifeguards are also expected to be available for the additional post-season weekends:


● September 12
● September 13
● September 19
● September 20


Additional pool setup hours may be available in April and May.

Compensation
Hourly Rate: $25.00 per hour
