The Claims Conference is looking for a Data and Business Intelligence Specialist to join the IT team in our New York office. We are looking for a candidate who is detail-oriented and has strong work experience in Tableau and SQL.

Note: this is a hybrid position with a minimum of two days in the office.

In 2023, the Claims Conference distributed approximately $625 million in direct compensation to over 260,000 survivors in 83 countries and allocated approximately $750 million in grants to over 300 social service agencies worldwide that provide vital services for Holocaust survivors, such as home care, food, and medicine. Our Research, Education, and Documentation (RED) funds contribute toward global efforts to educate the public and preserve the memory of the Holocaust through teacher training programs, exhibitions, and films such as Son of Saul, an Academy Award winner for Best Foreign Film. Note: prior paid work experience using Tableau is a requirement for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Performing business analysis to identify data visualizations relevant and valuable for business units;
  • Developing and maintaining interactive data visualizations using Tableau as standalone products and as part of a self-service BI Platform;
  • Developing SQL stored procedures to automate data processing for BI purposes;
  • Identifying and pursuing opportunities to enrich Data Warehouse with relevant third-party data (open source and vendors) to improve the reporting quality;
  • Administering Tableau Cloud instance and communicating with Tableau support regarding any issues;
  • Supporting the data quality assurance process as necessary;
  • Supporting the integration of AI tools into reporting and business processes, including identifying use cases, testing solutions, and collaborating with internal teams;
  • Fulfilling ad hoc data requests.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors’ degree in a related discipline or equivalent experience in BI;
  • Strong knowledge of Tableau, including paid work experience building and implementing dashboards and administering Tableau Cloud instance;
  • Familiarity with other BI tools and libraries is a plus;
  • At least 2 years’ of paid work experience with MS SQL Server 2012 or later, including knowledge of T-SQL;
  • Proficiency in data visualization best practices and principles;
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel, including pivot tables and lookups;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to communicate complex concepts to non-technical users in engaging manner;
  • Interest in or experience with implementing AI or machine learning solutions in a business setting preferred;
  • Familiarity with generative AI tools and concepts (e.g., LLMs, prompt engineering, workflow automation using AI);
  • Ability to evaluate the practical use of AI responsibly, including understanding limitations, risks, and appropriate use cases.

Our target salary range for the Data and Business Intelligence Specialist in the New York City market is $110,000-$115,000. This salary range represents Claims Conference’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of posting. The final salary for this role will be determined based on careful consideration of a variety of factors, such as the candidate’s exact location, experience in similar roles, and expertise related to the qualifications.
