Event Coordinator

Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Director of Operations, assist with the organization’s events, rentals, simcha coordination, and community-facing experiences to enhance engagement and generate revenue, while ensuring that every touchpoint reflects the synagogue’s values and mission.
Key responsibilities include placing orders, vendor and staff management, logistical oversight, on-site event execution, and post-event analysis to ensure objectives are met and guest expectations are exceeded.

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, working with families on planning, logistics, and execution.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for kiddushes, working with families on planning, logistics, and execution.
- Oversee the set-up and break-down of facilities for events, ensuring spaces are returned to their normal state.
- Help manage part-time event staff and volunteers.
- Ensure AV and tech needs are met for programming and services.
- Ensure room reservations and all event details are input into Mazevo.
- Work with Director of Operations to determine weekly meeting schedule and necessary meeting recaps.
- Assist with developing revenue sources from external events, such as gym rentals, pool rentals, and birthday parties.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

- Strong event technology skills (Zoom, Mazevo, etc.).
- Willingness to learn to use new technologies and work in multiple software platforms and applications.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management, communications, marketing, or a related field. Relevant work experience may substitute for the college-level coursework.
- At least five years’ related experience required.
- Prior work experience in a non-profit and/or academic environment is preferred.
- Knowledge of Jewish rituals and culture, life cycle events.
- Experience with Shulcloud is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged sitting: The ability to remain in a stationary, seated position for extended periods, potentially for over 50% of the workday.
- Computer operation: Constant use of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment.
- Near vision: The visual acuity to read and work with materials at close range (20 inches or less), which is necessary for computer use.
- Verbal communication: The ability to talk and hear, which is necessary for communicating with others via telephone or in person.
- Light lifting: The occasional ability to lift and move light items, such as a box of paper or files, often described as up to 10 or 25 pounds.
- Mobility: The ability to move throughout the building and grounds.

Additional Information:
- Salary: $65,000-$70,000
- Position Type: Full-Time
- Location: In-person role based in Baltimore, MD.
- FSA, Paid Holidays, & Vacation, Medical, Dental, and the opportunity for early leave on Fridays for Shabbat.
