THE OPPORTUNITY

Who you will work with

The Staff Tax Accountant (STA) is a member of the Tax Accounting team, which supports several Schusterman-owned entities and is based in their Tulsa, OK office. The STA will assist with tax planning, preparation/filing of a variety of tax returns, and fixed asset analysis.

Where and how you will work

Schusterman employees work a weekly hybrid schedule with a mix of in-office time and work-from-home flexibility. For this role, you’ll need to be based in Tulsa, OK and be on-site on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. This is a full-time position. Please note that Schusterman does not cover relocation expenses for this position.

WHAT YOU WILL DO (RESPONSIBILITIES)

  • Prepare federal, state and local, corporate income/franchise tax returns, partnership tax returns, trust tax returns, individual tax returns and quarterly tax estimates.
  • Assist with maintaining commercial real estate fixed asset base. Prepare tax schedules and workpapers recording multi-million-dollar property acquisitions, dispositions, and updates. Setup entries in accounting system and ensure tie-out to financials. Contribute to gain/loss reports and estimates used by management and stakeholders.
  • Work with peers and management to create and present strategic tax planning solutions which may include but not limited to developing tax efficient business structures, assessing international tax exposure, evaluating new equity placements, and advising of recent tax law changes.
  • Assist with tax research and planning, analyzing tax law, documenting positions, monitoring state and local law changes and assessing impact to company.
  • Attend and participate in industry-leading learning opportunities offered through internal and external resources.
  • Assist with tax issues that may arise and work with management on special projects.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED (REQUIREMENTS)

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required.
  • At least 3 years of professional accounting or finance experience required.
  • Certified Public Accountant is preferred.
  • Strong research skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze and find conclusions from large amounts of data required.
  • Ability to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions required.
  • Attention to detail with a high level of accuracy required.
  • Excellent verbal, written communication skills required.
  • Strong prioritization and time management skills with ability to meet deadlines required.
  • PC skills (with proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint), as well as a thorough knowledge and comfort of basic web skills required.
  • No travel is required.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS OF WORKING AT SCHUSTERMAN

This role features a competitive hiring range of $82,000 - $95,000 based on experience and Schusterman’s commitment to internal equity. We offer a strong benefits package to support employee health and well-being, including medical, dental, vision, retirement and mental health support.
