Job Summary/Objective:
The position reports directly to the Executive Assistant to the Executive Director and works closely with other departments within the Administration team. In this position, the person is the welcoming “face” of Central Synagogue; therefore, needs to be highly organized and a strong communicator with customer service experience. This individual must be comfortable in a fast-paced environment, able to work independently and operate with a high attention to detail. A great deal of flexibility and a “can-do” attitude are essential to meet the needs of a large community.

Hours: M-TH 9:00 am-5:00 pm, Friday- 9:00 am-4:30 pm
Full-time, FLSA classification (non-exempt and eligible for OT)
Expected to work on all the High Holy Days.
Essential Functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Reception Responsibilities
- Answer main phone line: reply to inquiries, transfer calls, manage voicemails, assist callers with event registration
- Communicate basic information about Central’s offerings: services, livestreaming, special events, classes, High Holidays, etc.
Administrative Assistant Responsibilities
- Assist Executive Assistant to the Executive Director with projects as needed
- Manage the email@censyn.org inbox
Office Responsibilities
- Maintain office supply stock and organize office/storage space
- Contact printing vendor and order stationery/envelopes as needed
- Manage mail: maintain postage on mail machine, receive/distribute all incoming mail, post/send all outgoing mail
- Update/maintain Central Synagogue Team Directory
- Supervise the office front entrance: check cameras, admit approved visitors, ask unrecognized visitors to check in with security
Miscellaneous Responsibilities
- Provide coverage in the absence of the EA which includes scheduling and other admin support for the Executive Director
- Must work all High Holy Day (“HHD”) services
- Assist other departments with admin assistance as needed
- Acquire information across teams to self-sufficiently respond to calls rather than transferring to other departments

- Good judgment to effectively handle requests from non-members
- Must be able to multi-task
- Must possess excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize
- Must be punctual
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Experience in a customer service/concierge focused position preferred
- Computer Skills: proficiency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, familiarity with CRMs (Salesforce experience preferred), and proficiency in Zoom and Microsoft Teams
- Data entry experience
- Ability to anticipate upcoming needs and act with efficiency
- 2 years’ administrative experience preferred
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to set and re-set priorities and multi-task effectively and independently in a fast-paced, team-oriented work environment

Additional Information:
Hybrid Schedule: One day remote on Monday and four days in the office.
The expected salary range for this position is $50,000 to $60,000. Central Synagogue offers an extensive benefits package designed to meet the needs of our dedicated and diverse community. The salary is commensurate with experience based on several factors, including, but not limited to, skills, knowledge, training, education, areas of specialization, and depth and scope of experience. The above salary range represents the Synagogue’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the possible compensation range at the time of posting.
