Job Summary/Objective:
The Development Coordinator will play an important role in many aspects of Central Synagogue’s fundraising efforts, from processing and acknowledging gifts to generating invitation lists and interacting with donors. Additionally, the person in this role will provide administrative help to the Chief Development Officer and Director of Development.
This individual must be comfortable in a fast-paced environment, able to work independently, and capable of working with a high level of attention to detail. They will regularly interface with members of our congregation. Outlined below is a more detailed list of key responsibilities. Given the nature of synagogue life, a great deal of flexibility and a “can-do” attitude are essential qualities as we work to address the needs of our large community. To be successful, the person in this role must always approach their work with the understanding that serving our donors well is a top priority.

Full-time; Non-Exempt, eligible for OT
General hours are 9:00 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday. This position will be expected to work during the High Holy Days (4-6 days) and during other special events and programs from time to time.
Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
- Accurately processes and records gifts received via mail, phone, or online
- Quickly creates and sends correct gift acknowledgments in collaboration with the Chief Development Officer
- For Central leadership, creates gift reports and email drafts thanking contributors for large donations
- Collaborate with colleagues to draft event invitations, compile guest lists, send invitations, and track RSVPs to ensure successful Development event execution
- Coordinates the acquisition and distribution of appreciation gifts for donors
- Screens incoming calls and correspondence to the Development Office, responding independently when appropriate, and escalating matters as needed
- Collaborates with the Finance department to ensure that pledges are billed in accordance with donor wishes and redundant billing is avoided
- Conducts research on donors and prospects to inform engagement and fundraising strategies
- Assists in creating, organizing, and mailing printed fundraising materials
- Schedules internal and external meetings and provides support for occasional travel
- Assists the Development Manager with the donor listings for our booklet and plaque
- On an as-needed basis, assists in planning Development Committee meetings, sends reminders, plans logistics, and attends meetings to take minutes
- Assists in managing team calendars, independently schedules appointments, and resolves conflicts
- Proofreads all Development materials
- Handles expense reports, reimbursements, invoices, and check requests
- Takes minutes at weekly Development team meetings

- Organized and efficient: Demonstrated time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- At least one year of work experience required
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Familiarity with Salesforce is preferred

Additional Information:
Hybrid Schedule: One day remote on Monday and four days in the office.
The expected salary range for this position is $55,000 to $60,000. Central Synagogue offers an extensive benefits package designed to meet the needs of our dedicated and diverse community. The salary is commensurate with experience based on several factors, including, but not limited to, skills, knowledge, training, education, areas of specialization, and depth and scope of experience. The above salary range represents the Synagogue’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the possible compensation range at the time of posting.
